Acura Automobiles: Acura Delivers Highest Projected Residual Value of all Luxury Brands for Fourth Straight Year, According to Edmunds.com

  • Acura is named the 2015 Best Retained Value® Luxury Brand by Edmunds.com
  • Acura has highest projected residual value of any eligible luxury brand
  • Acura gateway models 2015 ILX sedan and RDX sport-utility are model-level winners

In the area of projected retained value, Acura has again taken the luxury crown, earning a Best Retained Value® award from Edmunds.com, ahead of all other eligible luxury brands, for the fourth consecutive year. The 2015 Acura ILX sedan and 2015 Acura RDX sport-utility vehicle also received Edmunds.com 2015 Best Retained Value® model-level awards. Acura tops all eligible luxury brands with the highest projected residual value of 46.9 percent after five years of ownership in the 2015 Edmunds.com Best Retained Value® awards. Brand award winners are selected based on having the highest projected residual values after five years based on their average True MarketValue® (TMV®) price when sold as new.

“Topping the Edmunds rankings for projected retained value for eligible luxury brands for four straight years is an important validation of our total focus on delivering a truly outstanding customer experience in every facet of what it means to own an Acura vehicle,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president and general manager of the Acura Division. “Acura products continue to set the benchmark in the luxury market by providing customers with a unique combination of luxury and performance, leading-edge safety technology and exceptional long-term quality, reliability and durability.”

Acura growth continues at a blistering pace in the U.S., with a sales gain of 16.1 percent through May of 2015. On the sedan front, the Acura TLX luxury sport sedan and sporty gateway ILX have helped boost overall Acura sedan sales to a 43.5 percent increase over the previous year. Acura light trucks, the hottest one-two punch in the luxury SUV game, continue to set records, with the RDX reaching an all-time record sales record of 5,343 units, combining with the popular MDX to produce sales of 10,764 Acura luxury SUVs in May.

Acura has launched a redesigned 2016 ILX sedan and 2016 RDX sport-utility vehicle. The 2016 RDX offers more performance, luxury appointments and advanced safety technology than ever, including a new, more powerful 3.5-liter i-VTEC®  V-6 engine, standard Jewel Eye™ LED projector headlights  and LED taillights and an expanded list of available AcuraWatch™ safety and driver-assistive technologies. For 2016, the Acura ILX has been reimagined – with even more features, more leading-edge technology and a major injection of Acura DNA, including an all new high-performance 2.4-liter, direct-injected i-VTEC® engine with 8-speed DCT, added luxurious appointments and more youthful, sporty styling.

To be eligible for an Edmunds.com 2015 Best Retained Value Brand Award®, a brand must have had more than 100,000 unit sales in 2014 and have eligible models competing within at least four vehicle-type categories. Each model year 2015 vehicle that was launched by the end of 2014 and achieved unit sales in February 2015 that represented at least 25 percent of average unit sales for the models in its vehicle type category, was eligible for this year’s model-level Best Retained Value® Awards. Edmunds determined each model’s vehicle type category for the 2015 awards based on its body type segment; for certain categories, the size of the model within its body type segment; and for certain categories, the model’s price and/or its competitive segment.
