Acura Automobiles: Castroneves, Cameron Qualify 1-2 for Acura during Mid-Ohio

After a stirring intra-team battle, Helio Castroneves took his Acura ARX-05 antecedent to a stick in subordinate currently for Sunday’s Acura Sports Car Challenge during Mid-Ohio, circumference teammate Dane Cameron by only fifteen hundredths of a second on his final subordinate lap. Katherine Legge, pulling a Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3, led a approach for a manufacturer in GTD subordinate and will start fourth on Sunday.

Acura Team Penske’s Castroneves and Cameron battled for stick honors around a 15-minute antecedent subordinate session. With only mins remaining, Cameron seemed to have a best path in a #6 Acura ARX-05 he will share with Juan Pablo Montoya on Sunday, posting a time of 1:11.984 around a rolling 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. 

But as he took a checkers, Castroneves jumped his teammate with a time of 1:11.837, to explain his initial stick in a #7 ARX-05 he co-drives with Ricky Taylor. It’s a second uninterrupted stick for Acura in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship foe this year, with Montoya carrying taken subordinate honors during a Grand Prix of Long Beach in April.

In GTD, Katherine Legge paced Acura effort, holding her NSX GT3 to fourth in a 15-minute event for that difficulty in a parsimonious subordinate conflict among a tip 6 competitors.  Legge will start tomorrow’s dual hour, 40-minute competition in a #86 MSR Acura before handing off to co-driver Alvaro Parente.

In a second MSR entry, Justin Marks will start a #93 NSX GT3 he shares with Lawson Aschenbach from sixth in a competitive, 14-car GTD field.
