ANNUAL HYUNDAI HOPE ON WHEELS 5K BENEFITING CANCER RESEARCH AT CHOC CHILDREN’S RETURNS TO FOUNTAIN VALLEY ON SEPTEMBER 28

Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K Run/Walk held in honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. – September 3, 2014 – In honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Hyundai Hope On Wheels® will hold its annual 5K Run/Walk to benefit pediatric cancer research at the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC Children’s in September. The Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K Run/Walk will be held on Sunday, September 28 at 7:00 a.m. at the Fountain Valley Sports Park located in Mile Square Park.

Runners and walkers of all ages and levels are invited to participate by either registering for the race or making a donation at www.HyundaiHopeOnWheels.org/5K. The registration price is $35 for adults participating in the 5K and $15 for kids participating in the Sprint. On-site registration for the 5K will be available for $40. All participants of the 5K will receive a race shirt and bib, a commemorative medal and professional timing. Awards will be given to the top finishers. A Family Fun Festival, including food, vendor booths and giveaways, will immediately follow the race. The event will also feature Hope On Wheels’ signature Handprint Ceremony and check presentation with doctors, patients and families from CHOC Children’s.

This event is part of the Hyundai Hope On Wheels September campaign in honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. During the month of September, Hope On Wheels will award $9 million for pediatric cancer research. This brings Hope On Wheels’ total support in the fight against pediatric cancer to $87 million since 1998. Hope On Wheels will also host additional 5K Run/Walks in Chicago and Miami in addition to its annual support of the Jimmy Fund Walk in Boston.

Additionally, Hope On Wheels will launch a new awareness program, Every Handprint Tells A Story (EHTAS). The public is invited to show its support for pediatric cancer by visiting www.HyundaiHopeOnWheels.org/September. On the website, visitors can watch video stories of courageous child cancer survivors, learn about the work of several Hyundai scholar researchers, post and share their messages of hope, and join an online community of supporters via social media.
