Audi gewinnt Digital Transformation Award

The jury ‑ composed of politicians, academics and businesspeople – praised the holistic strategy, which promotes the digital cultural transformation in the entire company. “Audi placed priority on a solution from one mold with cross connections, and then fully integrated that solution,” said jury member Karl Heinz Land, founder of strategy consulting company neuland. The jury chaired by Miriam Meckel, Editor-in-Chief of “WirtschaftsWoche” business magazine, stated that it was a pioneering achievement to establish a new communication platform within a short time with more than 80,000 employees.

Audi employees at locations in Europe, Asia and America communicate in various languages and across many time zones. “At Audi, we have created a digital platform through which all our employees all over the world can be connected. We will only be flexible and innovative as an organization when we share our knowledge,” stated Ulbrich. Modern forms of communication are crucial in order to work efficiently and competitively in the era of digital transformation.

Audi IT has developed connected social‑media applications together with all of the company’s specialist departments. In the context of digitalization, Audi is encouraging the exchange of ideas. This includes direct dialog across departmental and personnel levels, as well as a flow of information that is fast and and transparent for everyone involved. In the context of an internal ideas competition in the social‑media channels, more than 250 suggestions for useful apps in the car were prepared and submitted within four weeks. Expert teams are now working on the further development of the best ideas.

The Digital Transformation Award has now been presented twice by “WirtschaftsWoche,” a leading German business magazine, and “neuland,” a strategy consulting company. This prize is given in recognition of companies, organizations, public authorities and institutions that increase their value added through the application of digital technologies. The jury assesses digital projects in the categories of “Business and Strategy,” “Product and Service” and “Corporate Culture.”
