Opening Concert with Piotr Beczala (Picture), Philharmonie Baden-Baden and Lukasz Borowicz The Audi Summer Concerts 2014 opened on Wednesday with a performance by tenor Piotr Beczala and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lukasz Borowicz. The concert in the Festival Hall of Ingolstadt’s City Theater kicked off a season that will feature 14 additional events in Ingolstadt, Eichstätt and at Schloss Leitheim, Kaisheim.

With conductor Lukasz Borowicz, Piotr Beczala interpreted works yesterday evening including arias from Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Rigoletto” and Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin.” The Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestranbsp; also contributed “instrumentally” to the successful opening of the festival.

Classical music fans will have a chance to enjoy a summer of music at 14 more concerts. Advance and box office tickets are still available for some of the concerts. Audi is continuing its “Listen!” series of children’s concerts this summer with three events: Young fans of classical music can enjoy a special performance of musical theater with “Orlandos Traum” (Orlando’s Dream) on July 5, featuring the renaissance recorders of The Royal Wind Music ensemble. The Georgian Chamber Orchestra of Ingolstadt and host Pete Dwojak will present a “Musikalische Märchenstunde” (Musical Fairy Tale Hour) for young concertgoers on July 20. 

The traditional Classical Open Air events in Ingolstadt’s Klenzepark have taken on cult status. On July 18, the Audi Philharmonic Wind Ensemble conducted by Christian Lombardi will be hosting an evening concert featuring film scores and famous works by Richard Wagner. Then on July 19, the Georgian Chamber Orchestra will perform their “Eine Nacht am Broadway” (A Night on Broadway) concert. Both evenings end with a fireworks display. Admission is free.
