Audi to show its colors at Kieler Woche 2014

Sailing is a perfect fit for Audi – because it’s a highly technical sport, requires team work and treats the spectators to top-caliber competitions. Since 2010, Audi has been involved as a premium partner of the Kieler Woche and equips the trailer and shuttle service.

Audi’s activities offered in Schilksee, where fans are in close touch with the action, will be the absolute hot spots again during the world’s biggest sailing event. The “Kieler Woche TV powered by Audi” channel that was launched in 2011 will be an integral component. Thanks to state-of-the-art camera technology and GPS live tracking “Kieler Woche TV” will be broadcasting fascinating live footage of the regattas and entertaining discussion rounds with the stars. All pictures will be shown on location on large screens and on the internet.

One focal topic to be covered will be Audi Sailing Team Germany, for whose members the Kieler Woche is both a ‘home round’ and pinnacle event of the season. In 2010, the German national sailing team made its debut at the ‘Fjord’ and has celebrated numerous successes since then. In pursuit of the long-range aim of competing in the 2016 Olympic Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, the team’s participation in this year’s Kieler Woche marks another milestone on its road to joining the world’s top-flight sailors.

Participants of the Audi Sailing Experience can look forward to a special event, as since 2013, Audi has been partnering with the B/one boat class of Bavaria Yachtbau that will create a very special highlight at the Kieler Woche. Together with sailing pros, Audi customers and celebrities in politics, business, the media and sports will be sailing onboard of a B/one sport boat and run in their own regatta. The guests will be crew members with full involvement and experience competitive action close-up on the seven-meter boats.

Those who cannot personally be on location will be treated to online coverage of the Kieler Woche by Audi at home. The entire program of the brand based in Ingolstadt will be broadcast from Kiel online at www.audi-sailing.de. Similarly extensive is the content available on the ‘Audi Sailing’ app that can be downloaded for the iPhone and iPod touch from the App Store free of charge. In addition to complete schedules and information, sailing fans will find current pictures and videos of the events there.
