“Open Sesame.” Chances are you’ve heard this popular phrase. It’s the magical saying used to open a cave in the story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.

Here at Ford, we’ve applied this concept to some of our vehicles, so that when you make a simple kicking motion under the rear bumper, the liftgate opens. Pretty cool eh? This way you don’t have to walk around the parking lot yelling “Open Sesame.”

This useful feature is called foot-activated liftgate and is an available option on the 2013 Ford Escape and 2013 C-MAX. In our opinion, it’s one of the more compelling vehicle technologies in recent memory. For the Canadian launch of the 2013 C-MAX, we wanted to do something different to highlight this fresh feature, so we created an equally fresh video to show it off!

We recruited b-boys Lee Lethal Pham and Onton See from Supernaturalz, a Toronto dance crew, to battle in front of a 2013 C-MAX Energi. The foot-activated liftgate served as the focal point with the breakdancers competing to open and close it during the dance-off.

Let us know what you think of the foot-activated liftgate breakdance video. We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
