‘Best Cars 2015’: Volkswagen wins with eight group models

Volkswagen GolfThis morning in Stuttgart, the car magazine auto motor und sport crowned the winners of its international readers’ poll the ‘Best Cars 2015’. In the presence of Prof. Dr. Ferdinand K. Piëch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft and Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, eight Volkswagen Group models were awarded the much sought-after accolade.

In the ‘Supermini’ category the Audi 1 secured first place. In the ‘Compact Class’ the Volkswagen Golf was crowned winner, while the ŠKODA Octavia won the ‘Import Compact Class’.

Two group sports utility vehicles also took awards: the Audi Q3 beat off all rivals in the ‘Small SUVs’ category, while the Porsche Macan emerged victorious in the category for ‘Large SUVs’.

In the cabriolets’ overall ranking the Porsche 911 Cabrio/Targa took top spot. In the ‘Sports Car’ category as well the sportscar brand beat the competition with the Porsche 911.

The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand also received a ‘Best Cars’ award, coming out on top for the twelfth time in succession in the ‘Van’ category with the Multivan.

The ‘Best Cars’ readers’ poll is internationally one of the largest consumer surveys in the automotive field. It evaluated the opinions of readers of car magazines from the auto motor und sport group from a total of 15 countries. As in previous years, the poll was run in eleven categories, each with an overall and importer ranking.
