around the world do battle for points, victories and titles. Away from
the track too, members of the large BMW Motorsport family around the
world are also creating headlines. The “BMW Motorsport News” allows us
to regularly summarise all the action for you in a compact and
informative manner. This way, you are always up to speed.

DTM: Successful first test for the new BMW M4 DTM.

Two weeks after the grand finale at the Hockenheimring (DE), all
three manufacturers in the DTM took part in a three-day test at the
“Motorsport Arena Oschersleben” (DE). The focus was on initial set-up
work with the next generation of the BMW M4 DTM. In action for BMW at
the 3.696-kilometre circuit near Magdeburg (DE) were newly-crowned
champion Marco Wittmann (DE) and his team-mate at BMW Team RMG, Timo
Glock (DE). Together, they completed 430 laps. The BMW M4 DTM will
make its next appearance at the test in Portimão (PT) from 14th to
17th November.

FIA Formula 3 World Cup: Félix da Costa, Sims and Eriksson in
action in Macau.

As well as a spectacular street circuit, which guarantees exciting
race action, fans at the FIA Formula 3 World Cup in Macau (MO) can
also look forward to plenty of BMW Power. As well as BMW works drivers
António Félix da Costa (PT) and Alexander Sims (GB), BMW Motorsport
Junior Joel Eriksson (SE) will also take on the iconic Guia Circuit
(MO) on 20th November. The race is the highlight of the Formula 3
calendar. In 2012, the name Félix da Costa went down in the list of
winners. This year, he will be looking to taste success for the Carlin
team. GT specialist Sims, who won the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps
(BE) in a BMW M6 GT3 in July, will make his return to single-seater
racing. Having finished third in 2015, he is set for his seventh
appearance at the FIA Formula 3 World Cup in Macau. Sims will race for
Double R Racing. In contrast, the Guia Circuit is new terrain for
Eriksson. He will make his debut at the iconic circuit with the
Motopark team.

Asian Le Mans Series: Blomqvist makes guest appearance in Zhuhai.

BMW DTM driver Tom Blomqvist (GB) was in action for the AAI team at
the 4 Hours of Zhuhai (CN) as part of the Asian Le Mans Series.
However, Blomqvist was forced to end his guest start alongside Lin Yu
(CN) and Akira Iida (JP) early when the BMW M6 GT3 retired after 86
laps. Before that, Blomqvist and his colleagues had driven a strong
race, moving up from 13th on the grid and temporarily into third place
in the GT class. The next stop on the race calendar of the Asian Le
Mans Series is Fuji (JP) from 1st – 3rd December.

Australian GT Championship: Debut in Hampton Downs.

Hampton Downs (NZ) hosted the Australian Endurance Championship for
the first time this weekend. At the penultimate race of the season,
local hero Steve Richards (NZ) and Max Twigg (AU) once again competed
in the BMW M6 GT3 for BMW Team SRM. The duo narrowly missed out on the
Top 10 Shootout in qualifying and started the race from 11th on the
grid. After 97 laps, Richards and Twigg crossed the finish line in
15th place. The season finale will be held at Highlands Park (NZ) from
11th to 13th November.
