DTM: Audi heads to Norisring with advantage

DTM sharpened star René Rast in his Audi RS 5 DTM after a initial third of a deteriorate is heading a standings. His lane record during a Norisring is strong, highlighted by success in 2012 when Rast in a Porsche Carrera Cup took stick position twice, won both races and set dual fastest competition laps. “I like city circuits,” says a supporter from Audi Sport Team Rosberg that is heading a teams’ classification. “The Norisring is a good challenge. It’s rough and we have to stop late – that suits my style.”

His teammate, Jamie Green, is nicknamed “Mr. Norisring.” An extraordinary 4 times a Briton has won on a short, 2.3-kilometer city travel circuit between a “Dutzendteich” lake and a Nuremberg soccer stadium. “There are other DTM marks we find some-more severe to competition on,” says a Briton. “But for a fans, a circuit is perfect. And that a Norisring suits me good is something I’ve not usually proven by carrying won there 4 times. I’ve always been quick there.”

This can be pronounced about Mattias Ekström as well, who has been racing during a Norising for 17 years as one of a strongest Audi drivers on each occasion. While a Swede has been on lectern in Nuremberg 7 times to date, he is still lacking a feat during a Norisring. This weekend will benefaction him with dual some-more opportunities for that he has even upheld adult his appearance in a World RX turn in his homeland. “I’m happy that my trainer (Dieter Gass) has done this preference for me,” says Ekström. “That of all events there’s a strife between my home competition in Höljes and one of my favorite races in a DTM is a genuine shame. I’d have desired racing during both events but, unfortunately, that’s not possible.”

“It was a really formidable preference since we’re still early in a deteriorate and Mattias has pretension chances in both championships,” says Head of Audi Motorsport Dieter Gass. “But a bureau joining in a DTM has priority for us. Mattias can win his third DTM pretension this year and has always been really clever during a Norisring. Last year, we finally won again during a Norisring after a prolonged time. We’d like to continue this success, though are awaiting an intensely tighten event. Technically, brake, traction and tip speed are a be-all and end-all in Nuremberg – and all of these are strengths of a new Audi RS 5 DTM.”

Due to TV coverage of a Tour de France, a dual DTM races during a Norisring will start scarcely late: on Saturday during 6:55 PM CEST and on Sunday during 5:20 PM. ARD will be airing live coverage from Nuremberg on “Das Erste.” Tickets and Audi fan packages are accessible online during www.audi.com/dtm.
