Meet motivational speaker, mountain climber, world traveler, and Ford Escape owner Spencer West. Spencer works at Free The Children, a global organization dedicated to educating, engaging and empowering youth to become active local and global citizens.

One of Free The Children’s biggest initiatives this summer was the We Create Change Tour. Spencer, along with band the Neverest and fellow speaker Hannah Alper, drove across the country visiting school communities where they celebrated positive change being made by Canada’s youth. But before they embarked on the 90 stop, 10-week, cross-country tour, Ford of Canada had a special surprise for Spencer.

Ford presented Spencer with his very own Ford Escape so he could drive the entire trip alongside the tour bus. But this wasn’t just any vehicle. Spencer had his legs removed at the age of 5, so Ford gave him a custom 2014 Ford Escape Titanium 4WD with 2.0L EcoBoost engine. The specially made Escape has been up-fitted with right angle hand controls for brakes and gas, customized removable seat cushion, custom seat belt, and added handgrips on the power liftgate for ease of access. And when you’re on the move as much as someone like Spencer West, you need a vehicle that can keep up.

The Ford Escape helps Spencer stay on the move, but what about you? Tell us what keeps you moving in the comments below, on Facebook or Tweet us with @FordCanada.
