Audi R8 LMS GT3
Position two on the Nordschleife: Audi Sport Team BWT started the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring season with a podium result. Audi Sport campaigner Markus Winkelhock and Audi factory driver Nico Müller shared an Audi R8 LMS of Peter Mücke’s Berlin-based racing team. At the end of the season’s first four-hour race, they took second position. In total, four Audi teams finished in the top ten.
Two podium results in Australia: Swiss Audi campaigner Marcel Fässler and his Australian teammate Geoff Emery in the Australian GT Championship season opener shared an Audi R8 LMS of Team Valvoline. On the race weekend at Melbourne, three-time Le Mans winner Fässler as the best Audi driver scored third place in the first and second place in the third race.
Four victories at Melbourne: Audi’s customers started the season of the Australian GT Trophy for older-generation race cars with a total of nine podium results. Australian Nick Kelly won all four races at Melbourne in the Audi R8 LMS ultra for Team Industrie Clothing. Matthew Stoupas in another Audi R8 LMS ultra contributed a second and three third places. Additionally, Audi privateer driver Rio Nugara clinched third place in race three. Nick Kelly is now leading the standings with 220 points, Matthew Stoupas with 159 points is ranked in third place.
Audi RS 3 LMS (TCR)
Initial visit to Neuburg an der Donau: The three new Audi Sport campaigners Gordon Shedden, Jean-Karl Vernay and Frédéric Vervisch are competing for Audi in the 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). On March 22, they visited Audi Sport customer racing in Neuburg an der Donau where they familiarized themselves with the company and together with Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing, analyzed focal areas for the season opener at Marrakesh from April 6 to 8. At Audi’s Museum Mobile in Ingolstadt, the driver trio admired exhibits from more than 100 years of the company’s history.
