Ford C-Max Energi offers fuel savings and flexibility

We’ve looked at the benefits of driving Electric Vehicles, and specifically what it costs to fuel up a Ford Focus Electric. Ford plug-in models perform differently, so let’s examine the benefits of the C-MAX Energi Plug-in Hybrid.

For most car buyers considering the switch to a plug-in hybrid, their wallet makes the final decision. And that wallet needs to know one thing: Will buying a plug-in hybrid save a few loonies by plugging in compared to pulling up to the pump?

In a C-MAX Energi, the electrons flow while the gasoline trickles, for unrivalled performance and efficiency

Plug-in hybrids offer significant benefits. Drivers can make shorter trips at cruising speeds without burning a drop of gas in all-electric mode, but still hit the open road for longer trips in conventional gas-powered mode.

Like their all-electric vehicle counterparts, hybrids regenerate their charge during braking and can be plugged in at their destination to recharge onboard batteries as well.

C-MAX

For the 2016 C-MAX Energi, charging the 7.6 kWh lithium-ion battery off-peak, at a rate of ¢ 8.3/kWh, would cost $0.63, and would get you an approximate range of 30 km.

So if, for example, you worked less than 15 km away from home, you could commute gas-free every work day for the month, and it would only cost you about $12.60 in electricity for the whole month. Not too shabby.

The end of “range anxiety”

Here’s another way to look at the Energi’s benefits over old-fashioned gas-powered cars. The efficient two-litre Atkinson-cycle engine averages 6.1 litres per 100KM* when using gas both in the city and on the highway. When using only the electric motor, the car consumes the equivalent of 2.7Le/100KM.*

C-MAX Energi

Going one step deeper into the benefits of owning a vehicle that has both a gas engine and electric motor under the hood, the C-MAX Energi boasts skills as a range anxiety slayer. With a total combined gas and EV range of over 850 km*, gone are the days of sweating about finding a plug or pump on trips across town or across the country.

When you look at the numbers for the C-MAX Energi, it’s no surprise that a growing number of customers are taking a long, hard look at Ford’s electric vehicle line. When it comes to savings and performance, these Fords are hard to beat!

And now with incentives in some provinces^, you can get into a plug-in hybrid Ford for equal or less than its all-gas counterpart. So go ahead, find your nearest dealer today.
