Oshawa, Ontario (March 1, 2017) — Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers delivered 16,528 total vehicles in February, an increase of 5 per cent year-over-year.  GM Canada’s total sales are up 3 per cent calendar year-to-date.    

“Backed by our strong portfolio of crossovers and pick-up trucks we delivered solid growth in the industry’s fastest-growing and most profitable segments,” said John Roth, vice-president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada. “Marked by a 27 per cent increase in crossovers and SUVs sales, customers are responding to our complete portfolio of products like, the award-winning Chevrolet Bolt EV, quality craftsmanship and spirited performance of the Buick Envision, all new GMC Acadia and the refined luxury of the Cadillac XT5.”

Brand Highlights (vs February 2016):

  • Chevrolet
    • Best total sales calendar year-to-date since 2013, up 1 per cent vs 2016
    • Chevrolet trucks (including crossovers) best total and retail sales since 2008 (up 4 per cent), led by sales of the Trax (up 12 per cent), Equinox (up 21 per cent), Traverse (up 37 per cent) and Colorado (up 14 per cent)
    • Chevrolet Volt sales are up 161 per cent
  • Buick
    • Total sales increased by 55 per cent and sales calendar year-to-date increased by 48 per cent
    • February was Buick’s best SUV sales month ever with a 152 per cent increase driven by sales of the all-new Envision, new Encore (up 141 per cent) and Enclave (up 18 per cent)
    • Retail sales are up 72 per cent, marking the best retail month since 2002
  • GMC
    • Total sales were up 9 per cent, GMC’s best February in 20 years, led by Sierra (up 6 per cent) and Canyon (up 7 per cent)
    • All GMC SUVs experienced growth with the all-new Acadia up 11 per cent, Terrain up 15 per cent and Yukon up 5 per cent
    • GMC total year-to-date sales are up 2 per cent
  • Cadillac
    • Total sales are up 10 per cent, best February sales since 1980
    • Retail sales were up 9 per cent, best February retail sales ever
    • Luxury SUVs were up 30 per cent driven by sales of the XT5/SRX (up 66 per cent) and Escalade ESV up (52 per cent)
