Honda Automobiles: 2016 Honda HR-V

Overview
The all-new HR-V is designed around the needs of its passengers, with a wide range of “class-above” comfort and convenience features. From the clever utility of the center console’s roomy storage features, and the easy connectivity of Bluetooth®1 HandsFreeLink®, to the comfort of the EX-L Navi trim’s heated front leather seats, the HR-V interior is exceptionally accommodating.

Key Comfort and Convenience Features

Smart Entry and Push Button Start/Stop
The HR-V EX and EX-L Navi trims include the convenience of the Smart Entry and Push Button Start/Stop system. The system simplifies approaching, entering and operating the HR-V – especially when the driver is carrying items. Operating the system requires only that the driver has possession of the Smart Entry key.

Smart Entry allows the driver to gain access to the vehicle without having to use the remote key fob or the key. Instead, the remote has a unique digital identity that is recognized by the vehicle when the driver approaches. At this point, to enter the vehicle, the driver simply pulls one of the front door handles while the remote in his or her possession. Similarly, pressing a soft-touch button located on the rear fascia opens the trunk.

Once the driver has opened the door and is seated, the Push Button Start system allows the driver to start the engine by pushing the START/STOP button, positioned on the instrument panel, while depressing the brake pedal. Powertrain operation and certain electrical functions are stopped when the START/STOP button is pressed again at the conclusion of the drive.

After parking the vehicle, a touch of the soft-touch lock button on either front door handle locks all doors and tailgate to secure the car. Alternatively, a press of the LOCK button on the Smart Entry remote will also simultaneously lock all the doors and trunk. The Smart Entry system will not allow the transmitter fob to be locked in the interior or the trunk.

Sliding Sunvisors
To provide more flexible shading from the sun, all HR-Vs come standard with sliding sunvisors. The driver and front passenger sunvisors can be moved along their mounting shafts to provide perpendicular shade for the eyes even when the front seats are in their rear-most position.

Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror
The HR-V EX-L Navi features an electro chromatic interior rearview mirror that automatically dims during nighttime driving to reduce glare from the headlights of following vehicles.

Steering Wheel
The HR-V Steering wheel has a thick rim for a comfortable grip. In the EX-L Navi, the steering wheel and shift knob are wrapped in leather. To help the driver get comfortable, the steering wheel offers manual tilt and telescope adjustments.

Climate Control with Wide Flow Passenger Vents
The HR-V offers two different climate control systems. Both feature a wide-flow passenger-side vent for more comfortable and uniform ventilation. The HR-V LX has a manual climate control system; the EX and EX-L Navi have an automatic climate control system with color touchscreen electrostatic controls.

Maintenance Minder™ Display
All HR-V models have a Maintenance Minder™ system that tracks service-related items based on vehicle usage. The Maintenance Minder™ system automatically indicates when to have standard service performed based on actual driving conditions (tracked by the ECU) and minimizes the guesswork related to whether the vehicle is being used in standard or severe use conditions for maintenance interval purposes. The display indicates when to change the oil, air cleaner, transmission fluid, spark plugs or coolant, as well as when to rotate the tires. Maintenance Minder™ information appears in the MID and i-MID displays.

ECON Mode
Every HR-V equipped with the continuously variable transmission has a standard green ECON button to the left of the steering wheel. This button engages ECON mode, in which several operating characteristics of the vehicle are modified for enhancing fuel efficiency. (See the Powertrain-ECON Mode section for more information).

Engine Immobilizer
Complementing the remote entry system is a standard engine-immobilizer system. On vehicles without the Smart Entry feature, a special electronically coded key prevents the car from being started-even if a mechanical duplicate of the key is used. A transponder, built into the key, signals the immobilizer control unit that the key is genuine. If the car is hot-wired, or an unauthorized key is used, the engine will not start.

Auto-Up/Down Driver and Passenger’s Windows
The 2016 HR-V has front and rear power windows with a one-touch auto-up/down driver’s window. Illuminated controls allow for easy operation at night. Pressing a master switch on the driver’s window control panel can deactivate the passengers’ windows.

Power Locks
Power locks are standard with a customizable auto-locking feature. Remote entry is standard equipment on all HR-Vs. The key design has an integrated transmitter in the handle with lock, unlock and panic buttons.

Electric Parking Brake and Automatic Brake Hold
Electric Parking Brake (EPB) and Automatic Brake Hold meaningfully reduce the effort of driving the vehicle, thereby raising overall enjoyment and comfort for the driver. (See the CHASSIS section for more information).
