Honda Automobiles: 2018 Honda Accord Press Kit- Interior

The all-new 2018 Accord boasts a larger, more premium and tech-savvy interior that compliments its elegant new body design and more refined and athletic driving character.

The new Accord’s wider body and longer wheelbase contribute to its improved cabin space, most notably an additional 1.9 inches of rear legroom, as well as an added 2.5 cu. ft. of interior volume and 0.9 cu. ft. of trunk space. The more spacious cabin and trunk moves Accord into the EPA Large Car class, despite its shorter, more compact and sporting exterior form, the result of Honda’s packaging expertise and “Man-Maximum, Machine Minimum” design philosophy.

The new cabin is highlighted by a new ultra-low-profile, three-tiered instrument panel, an intricately contoured sport steering wheel, a new color TFT digital driver’s meter and a “floating” 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen. Meticulous attention to the tactile and visual quality of materials elevates the overall premium feeling of the cabin. The driver and front passenger are also treated to a panoramic view of the road ahead, made possible by the wider body, a lower cowl and newly designed A-pillars that are 20-percent narrower and moved rearward relative to the driver’s seating position.

The tech-savvy cabin’s new 7-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) digital driver’s meter offers a wide-array of driver-selectable information displays, while an available new 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen features both physical volume and tuning/list-scrolling knobs along with a more intuitive app-based user interface, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility and Wi-Fi-enabled over-the-air system updates.

Touring trims of all models – 1.5T, 2.0T and Hybrid – also feature a new 6-inch driver’s head-up display, wireless device charging, automatic Bluetooth® phone pairing with Near Field Communication technology, and the next-generation of HondaLink™ telematics with many new capabilities, including in-car 4G LTE Wi-Fi (data plan required) and remote engine start by smartphone app.

(See the Specifications and Features section for all data)

Styling and Colors

Interior Design
The 2018 Accord interior sets a new class standard, with a clean, open and premium look and feel. The new soft-touch instrument panel features a 3-tier design with a prominent upper deck that arcs from its outboard section through the side doorsills, creating a sense of safety and security. The front seats have been moved slightly inward compared to the previous generation Accord to contribute to enhance occupants’ freedom of movement. The rear seats have been moved substantially rearward, giving Accord nearly two additional inches of rear legroom.

Typical of Honda, all important systems and controls in the Accord are positioned within easy reach of the driver. Controls for the systems used most frequently are conveniently positioned on the new steering wheel. The main instrumentation is an upscale easy-to-read display that includes a new ultra-slim 7-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) driver’s meter (left side) that can present a wide range of useful information, and a speedometer on the right side of the instrument package. Typical of Honda interior design, the soft-touch switchgear of the Accord is engineered to deliver a high-quality feel and positive action.

Interior Colors and Decoration
The Accord’s interior palette is sophisticated and coordinated and is offered in black, gray or ivory colors. The LX interior has painted accent surfaces with a hairline finish, Sport models have metallic-look film accents, and other models have wood-look film accents with a rich open-pore finish. The Accord seats feature fabric seating surfaces in the LX and EX trims, with an added accent fabric in the EX. Sport models have a combination of fabric and synthetic leather, with contrasting piping for a sport-oriented look. The EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring trims feature leather seating, with perforated leather and a quilted stitching pattern on select areas.

Accord 1.5 and 2.0 Turbo

Spacious Five-Passenger Seating and Storage

Front Seats
The Accord’s all-new front bucket seats are designed to provide comfortable support for a wide range of body types, along with secure lateral support for cornering. For greater shoulder support, the seatbacks are 4.9 inches taller than in the previous-generation Accord. New high-accuracy urethane padding is used with varying density, depending on the location on the seat. More lightly loaded areas of the seat like the thigh support area have lower density foam, while the hip area has high rebound resistance urethane for a more stable, secure feel.

The driver’s seat in the LX is manually adjustable for fore-and-aft, seatback angle and height adjustment. All other trims feature power-operated adjustments, along with four-way adjustable lumbar support, for a total of 12-way power adjustability. The EX-L and above adds a front passenger seat with 4-way power adjustability. In EX-L trims and above with 2-position memory seating, the driver’s seat automatically retracts 1.4 inches when the door is opened. Upon startup (ACC ON), the seat automatically returns to its preset memory position.

Heated front seats are standard in the Accord EX and above. Heating includes both the seat bottom cushions and front seatbacks. The new 3-level front seat heater controls are positioned within easy reach, just below the climate control system controls. The Accord Touring adds 3-level seat ventilation that is designed to make hot climates – or a heat soaked interior – more comfortable. The system uses two blower motors. The motor in the base cushion pulls air from under the seat and discharges it through the perforated leather seat material. The blower in the seatback pulls air in through the perforated leather seatback and exhausts it inside the seat.

Rear Seats
The Accord’s spacious second-row seating is by far the most comfortable in the model’s history, with a substantial 1.9-inch increase in legroom compared to the previous generation and new high-accuracy urethane padding with varying density. The seating is designed for maximum comfort, with a 2.0-inch taller seatback for better support and a 2.0-inch longer fold-down center armrest for more comfortable arm support. In the Accord LX, the folding rear seatback is one piece, while in EX trims and above, a 60/40 split and folding design makes it easy to accommodate passengers and long cargo. For the first time ever in the Accord, 3-level adjustable rear heated outboard seats are standard in the Touring model. Controls for the rear seat heaters are positioned within easy reach on the rear of the front center console. The previous generation Accord had heated seat cushions; the 2018 Accord has heated seat cushions and seatbacks.

Center Console
The Accord interior offers a range of convenient storage features for the driver and passengers. The center console is specially engineered to offer a sporty appearance coupled with the versatile usability you might expect in an SUV. With the prevalence of smartphones in most people’s lives, there is a convenient smartphone tray at the front of the console. A 12-volt power outlet and illuminated charge/data USB port (1.0 amp in LX, 2.5 amp in other trims) are positioned nearby. A wireless charging pad for compatible devices is also located in this area in Touring trims.

A pair of large convenient cupholders are positioned alongside the transmission controls. Further rearward is a large central storage compartment, topped with a comfortable padded flip-up armrest. Inside, there is a removable tray for small items. A 12-volt power outlet is positioned inside. In EX and above trims, a second 2.5-amp charge/data USB port is also provided in the center console.

Trunk
The new Accord has a trunk capacity of 16.7 cubic feet – 0.9 cu-ft. larger than the previous Accord Sedan, and among the largest in the competitive class. Spacious enough to easily accommodate four large golf bags, the new trunk area is easy to access and use. The Accord LX features a one-piece rear seatback that can be lowered to expand the cargo area, while EX trims and higher (for the first time including Hybrid models) have a 60/40 split and folding rear seatback. The trunk is carpeted and lined, and a temporary spare (Tire Repair Kit in Hybrid) is located in a well under a removable section of the cargo-area floor.

Instrumentation and Controls

Control Layout
All important systems and controls in the Accord are positioned within easy reach of the driver. Controls for the systems used most frequently – audio, cruise control, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, available navigation system with voice recognition and Multi-Information Display – are conveniently positioned on the steering wheel. The main instrumentation is an easy-to-read, high-contrast, 7-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display on the left side of the instrument cluster, and speedometer on the right. Typical of Honda interior design, the soft-touch switchgear of the Accord is engineered to deliver a high-quality feel and positive action.

Steering Wheel
The thick, intricately contoured sport inspired steering wheel, leather-wrapped on Sport, EX-L and Touring trims, incorporates the most commonly used controls, allowing the driver to keep their hands on the wheel and their attention on the road. Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and audio system controls are located on the left side of the steering wheel, along with controls for the Driver Information Interface (DII). All Accord trims have Honda Sensing® with LKAS and ACC controls located on the right side of the steering wheel. In all trims, the steering wheel offers manual tilt and telescopic adjustment.

Transmission Controls
Accord models with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) have a traditional console-mounted lever-type shifter. In Accord models with the 10-speed automatic transmission, the conventional console-mounted shift lever is replaced with a fully electronic, shift-by-wire gear selector. Park, Neutral, and Drive are selected with the push of a button. (See the Powertrain section for more information.)

Instrumentation
The 2018 Accord features all-new instrumentation that blends a classic analog look with enhanced functionality. On the right is an analog speedometer with an electronically activated pointer.

Just to the left is a color 7-inch (diagonal) Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display. On its left side, the TFT has a depiction of an analog tachometer in most trims, or an analog power flow monitor in Hybrid models. On the right portion of the TFT, in the area that is positioned between the tachometer (or power flow meter in Hybrid) and the physical analog speedometer is a Multi Information zone that can present a range of alerts and information. The tachometer can also be toggled through a range of informational screens to present trip computer, audio, phone, navigation, driver attention monitor, traffic sign recognition and safety support.

Head-Up Display
The Accord Touring features a head-up display, which utilizes a concave mirror located behind the instrument panel to project a broad range of information on the lower portion of the windshield directly in front of the driver. The driver can adjust the location of the projection (up and down) or turn off the system via switches on the instrument panel.

Display modes can be selected by a steering wheel-mounted thumb dial. Display modes include:

  • Speed only
  • Tachometer plus speed
  • Power flow plus speed (Hybrid)
  • Navigation directions plus speed
  • Compass plus speed
  • Traffic Sign Recognition plus speed
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) plus speed
  • Pop-up warnings and phone call info

Multi-Angle Rearview Camera
A multi-angle rearview camera is standard on all Accords, with three viewing angles (wide view, normal view and top view). Drivers may select the preferred view according to driving conditions. The rearview image is displayed on the central display. All rearview camera systems feature dynamic guidelines that project the vehicle’s future path based on the driver’s steering inputs. (See the Safety and Driver Assistive section for more information.)

Multi-Information Display
The Accord instrument panel provides important vehicle information and connectivity content via a Driver Information Interface (DII) area of the instrument display positioned centrally in the instrument display. Controls positioned on the steering wheel allow the driver to cycle the Driver Information Interface (DII) through multiple screens of information from sources including trip computer, phone, audio, maintenance and more. The Maintenance Minder™ system alerts the Accord driver of upcoming maintenance needs via the DII and should a fault occur with the vehicle, specific warning information will appear. The display indicates when to change the oil, air cleaner, transmission fluid, spark plugs or coolant, as well as when to rotate the tires.

Smart Entry and Push Button Start/Stop
The 2018 Accord offers the upscale convenience of Smart Entry and Push Button Start/Stop.

Smart Entry
Smart Entry (EX and above trims) allows the driver to approach, open and use the trunk without using a key or pressing a button on the remote. With the remote in his or her possession, the driver simply presses the release button and opens the trunk. As a safety and convenience feature, the Smart Entry system will not allow the transmitter fob to be locked in the interior of the Accord.

Push Button Start/Stop
In all Accord trims, once the driver has opened the door and is seated, the driver simply pushes the START/STOP button positioned on the instrument panel while pressing the brake pedal to start the vehicle. Powertrain operation and certain electrical functions are ended when the START/STOP button is pressed again at the conclusion of the drive. For accessory mode, the driver simply presses the START/STOP button without pressing the brake pedal. The new Accord’s START/STOP button features a pulsating light to help the driver more easily locate the button.

Remote Engine Start
Accord EX and above trims feature standard remote engine start. This enables drivers to start their Accord in advance of the drive, thereby activating the climate control system with a default setting of 72 degrees – particularly helpful in extreme hot- or cold-weather conditions. The system will automatically operate the heater, front and rear defrosters, front heated seats, heated side mirrors, and air conditioning as needed.

The remote engine start feature is built into the key fob supplied with the vehicle. To start the engine remotely, the owner presses the LOCK button and then holds the ENGINE button for a second. The Accord’s hazard lights will flash, indicating that the signal has been received. When the engine is started remotely, the wipers, lighting and audio systems remain off, and the security system remains set. The engine will run for up to 10 minutes after remote starting, and can be extended by another 10 minutes using the same procedure; it will then shut off automatically if the owner doesn’t reach the vehicle within that time. When the owner does get to the Accord within 10 minutes – or extended period if the procedure is initiated a second time – the engine will keep running while the owner unlocks the vehicle, gets in, applies the brake and presses the Accord’s START button, which turns on all of the vehicle’s systems.

Accord Touring trims feature the latest generation of HondaLink telematics functions, including remote engine start using the password-protected HondaLink Smartphone app. When started using the HondaLink app, the remote start functional parameters are the same as when using the key fob to start the Accord remotely.

Locking
After parking, a press of the LOCK button on the remote will simultaneously lock all the doors and trunk. On EX and above trims, a touch of the soft-touch lock button on either ergonomically shaped front door handle (chrome on Touring trim) locks all doors and trunk to secure the Accord. The system will not allow the remote to be locked in the interior of the Accord.

Walk Away Door Lock
Included on EX and above trims, the new Walk Away Door Lock feature automatically locks the Accord when the driver leaves the vehicle with the key fob. This hands-free locking capability adds everyday convenience that is especially useful when the driver has his or her hands full or is distracted. In typical use, when all doors are closed and the driver walks away, the Accord will automatically lock when the key holder’s distance from the vehicle exceeds 6.5 feet for two seconds or more, and when no other key is detected inside the vehicle. An audible buzzer sounds and the hazard lights flash to confirm that the vehicle has locked. The Walk Away Door Lock feature is programmable, and may be turned on or off as the driver prefers. (See the Exterior section for more information.)

Power Windows, Locks and Mirrors
Power windows are standard equipment on all Accord trims and include auto-up and -down operation on the driver’s and front passenger’s windows, as well as both rear windows on EX and above trims. Power door locks and power mirrors are likewise standard equipment on all Accord trims, with the EX and above trims including heated exterior mirrors (reverse auto tilting on Touring trims). Smart entry is standard on Accord EX and above trims.

Wireless Phone Charger
New for 2018, Accord Touring trims have a standard wireless charging pad positioned at the front of the center console. It is compatible with a wide range of devices, and provides convenient recharging without the hassle of a wired connection.

One-Touch Power Moonroof with Tilt Feature
The Accord EX and above trims feature a power tilting and sliding moonroof with a manual sunshade. An auto-reverse feature is built in, reducing the possibility of a pinched finger or limb.

Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror
Accord EX-L and above trims feature an electro chromatic interior rearview mirror that automatically dims during nighttime driving to reduce glare from the headlights of following vehicles.

Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control
All Accord trims feature a new, more compact dual-zone automatic climate control system with simple tactile controls. When the temperature setting is changed, the dial features red or blue illumination feedback to confirm the change. The system has independent left and right temperature controls. A single temperature can be selected for the entire cabin, or the driver and front passenger can set different temperatures for their sides of the cabin. Dual adjustable vents located in the rear of the center console (EX and above) help keep rear seat passengers comfortable.

HomeLink® Remote System
Accord EX-L and above trims feature a HomeLink® universal remote system, located on the interior rear view mirror, which can be programmed with the codes of up to three devices, such as a garage-door opener or home security system.

Driver preferences
Accord EX-L and above trims come with two keyless remotes with unique identifiers. Each remote can be set with unique profiles to accommodate the individual preferences of two different drivers. The available preferences include driver seat and mirror positions, along with select HVAC functions. Other preferences include turning entry lights on or off, door lock and unlock modes and more. In the event both owners use the car at the same time, the Accord will recognize the keyless remote that approaches the driver’s door first.

Auto On-Off Headlights
All Accord trims feature auto-on/off headlights for greater convenience. The headlights are LED low beams coupled with multi-reflector/projector high beam units on all Accord trims except the Touring, which has auto-on/off LED (high and low beam) headlights. All Accord trims feature dramatic LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Electric Parking Brake (EPB)
The Accord’s Electric Parking Brake (EPB) makes using the parking brake easier and frees up precious center console space for storage and other functions. (See the Chassis section for more information.)

Hill Start Assist

The Hill Start Assist function helps to prevent the Accord from rolling backwards when the driver switches from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal while the vehicle is stopped on a hill. (See the Chassis section for more information.)

Comfort and Convenience Features

(See the Specifications and Features section for more information.)

Features

LX Audio System with 7-inch Display
The Accord LX has a standard 160-watt AM/FM radio audio system with four full-range speakers, positioned one in each front door and one on each side of the rear deck. The system can play Pandora® content from a compatible device via the USB port, or wirelessly, via Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®. The audio system has a 7-inch (diagonal) display screen and conventional “hard” buttons and knobs to control the various functions. Illuminated steering wheel mounted controls are positioned within fingertip reach.

Two 8-Inch Display Audio Systems
The all-new Display Audio system standard in the 2018 Accord EX, Sport, EX-L, EX-L Navi, and Touring is one of the most advanced systems ever offered by Honda. The 8-inch touchscreen lets you swipe, tap and pinch – just like on a tablet or smartphone – to control the vehicle’s audio system, display settings and other advanced features. The intuitive and easy-to-use system has a simplified menu structure, customizable shortcuts for commonly used features and customizable app locations.

On the EX and Sport, the 180-watt audio system has eight speakers. A full-range speaker is positioned in each front door and on each sides of the rear deck. Tweeters are placed near each A-pillar and on each side of the rear deck.

The EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring trims feature a 450-watt system with 10 channels of external amplification driving 10 speakers including a subwoofer. Full-range speakers are positioned in each front door and on each side of the rear deck. A total of four tweeters are placed near each A-pillar and on each side of the rear deck. A center channel speaker is positioned on the top of the instrument panel, and a subwoofer is centered in the rear deck.

The Accord’s Display Audio system offers greater capability than any previous Accord system, with AM/FM, HD Radio, SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto® integration, and HondaLink™ content among the many available content channels. The system includes two charge/data USB ports (one at the front of the console and another inside the main console storage compartment) that are selectable sources on the Display Audio screen (1.5T Sport trim has one USB port at the front of the console). With the Display Audio’s new operating system, icons resembling smartphone apps are displayed on the high-definition, capacitive touchscreen, making the interface intuitive and easy to use.

Much like a smartphone, apps can be moved and rearranged on each page, or hidden on the touchscreen. You can also restore a hidden app to the Home screen by selecting “Customize” in the “all apps” screen.

Utilizing a new Honda-developed operating system built upon Android™, the Accord’s Display Audio is also easily updatable and upgradeable. An update can be downloaded to a USB stick, via Wi-Fi from any available network (over-the-air), or for those opting for the Accord Touring’s data plan, directly to the head unit via available 4G LTE with an active data plan.

Apple CarPlay®
Accord EX and above trims offer standard Apple CarPlay compatibility. By connecting the iPhone® to the car using the phone’s USB cable (supplied with the phone) and the Accord’s USB data port, Apple CarPlay features can be accessed.

Apple CarPlay takes the most popular functions and features of the user’s compatible iPhone and puts them on the Accord’s Display Audio touchscreen display. You can get directions, send and receive messages, listen to audio books and music, all in a way that allows you to stay more focused on the road. Apple CarPlay is specially designed for typical driving scenarios. It also works with the Accord’s controls – both on the audio touchscreen and the steering-wheel mounted controls, so you don’t need to pick up your phone.

Apple CarPlay includes access to Apple Maps, which can provide turn-by-turn directions, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. Apple CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars.

Apple CarPlay is compatible with iPhone 5 or later smartphones that feature the small Lighting connector. Honda recommends iOS 8.4 or later operating systems.

Android Auto®
Accord EX and above trims offer standard Android Auto compatibility. By connecting a compatible Android phone to the car using the phone’s USB cable (supplied with the phone) and the Accord’s USB data port, the Android Auto platform is enabled.

Android Auto puts some of your phone’s most useful Apps on the Accord’s audio display. You can get directions, send and receive messages, listen to audio books and music, all without the need to pick up your phone. Android Auto works with the Accord’s controls – both on the audio touchscreen and the steering wheel-mounted controls – so it is simple and intuitive to use.

Android Auto is specially designed for typical driving scenarios. A curated selection of available Android Auto apps is designed for use in the Accord, and are designed to help minimize the potential for driver distraction.

Android includes access to Google Maps™, which can provide turn-by-turn directions, live traffic conditions, lane guidance and more.

Android Auto is designed to work with Android phones running 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher operating systems.

SiriusXM® Radio
A new generation 2.0 version of SiriusXM® Radio is a standard feature in Accord EX and above trims, and it provides more than 165 channels of digital programming with near CD-quality sound. The SiriusXM® signal is beamed from two broadcast satellites positioned in geostationary orbit above Earth. The beams from these two broadcast satellites combine to span the entire continental United States and some of Canada.

SiriusXM® Radio programming includes channels devoted to music, sports, talk, traffic, weather, children’s programming and entertainment. When the audio system plays SiriusXM® Radio, the audio system displays the current category, station, song title or artist’s name.

This latest generation of SiriusXM® Radio includes many all-new features, including pause, fast forward and rewind. There is also an Instant Replay feature, which allows listeners rewind the song they are currently listening to, or rewind a song/program on any of the presets. A new Sports Flash feature lets you listen to your favorite programming, and if your favorite team makes a big play in a live game that is being broadcast on SiriusXM® Radio, you will receive an on-screen alert. With a touch of a soft key, you can hear up to 30 seconds of audio before and including the big play.

HondaLink™
The Display Audio system (EX and above) with next generation HondaLink™ allows the customer’s digital lifestyle to seamlessly integrate with the car and provides access to a world of cloud-based information. The application-based platform connects customers to online content both inside and outside the car. The connection between the system and the user’s smartphone is made through the Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® wireless interface. A HondaLink™ phone app provides convenient access for many services including location searches, local weather, messaging, Maintenance Minder alerts, service scheduling by phone, and access to the vehicle Owners Guide.

This subscription-based system allows Accord owners to access a range of features and functionality:

  • Remote engine start with status
  • Remote door lock/unlock with status
  • Automated crash notification with location
  • Concierge Call
  • Remote “Find My Car”
  • Remote stolen vehicle tracking
  • Remote fuel and range status
  • Remote Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) status
  • Speed alarm
  • Geofencing
  • Remote diagnostics

HondaLink Assist
HondaLink Assist is standard on Accord EX and above trims, which can help request emergency assistance for drivers. If a compatible phone is paired through Apple CarPlay or Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, there is a cellular connection and an airbag deployment sensor is triggered, the system is designed to automatically attempt to notify an operator, report the car’s current location, and allow occupants to talk directly to the operator. The operator can then contact emergency services if needed.

Siri Eyes Free
All Accord trims integrate Apple’s Siri Eyes Free mode. Compatible iPhone users will be able to operate Siri through familiar voice commands by pressing and holding the TALK button on the steering wheel when their iPhone is paired via Bluetooth®. Using Eyes Free mode, Siri takes hands-free functionality even further and helps to minimize the potential for distraction by keeping the iOS device’s screen from lighting up.
Owners can direct Siri to perform a number of specific tasks while they keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel. Capabilities include:

  • Send text messages and e-mails
  • Read incoming text messages and emails
  • Set up calendar entries, reminders, and alarms
  • Check the weather
  • Turn-by-turn voice navigation (when the audio system is set to Bluetooth® Audio or iPod mode)
  • Sports scores and stock quotes

SMS Text Messaging
The Accord Sport and above have a standard SMS text message function that can read incoming texts aloud over the audio system, and allow the driver to reply with any of six factory-preset messages (users edit these and can add up to four additional messages). The system works with SMS-capable cell phones utilizing Blackberry or Android operating systems that have an active data plan and the Message Access Profile (MAP) and others. Apple iPhone models do not support this feature, but Siri Eyes Free Mode (iPhone 5, 6 and 7 at time of launch) offers the ability to initiate, hear and respond to text messages via voice commands.

Once a compatible phone is paired with the Accord’s Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® system, the user can enable the text messaging function. When the phone receives a text message, an alert appears on the audio touchscreen. Using the touchscreen, the driver can choose to have the message read aloud, can select among the preset reply choices, or can call the sender – all without touching the phone.

To help mitigate any potential driver distraction, the text of the incoming message is not displayed on screen unless the transmission is in Park.

Available factory preset text replies (users can edit these and add four additional):

  • Talk to you later, I’m driving.
  • I’m on my way.
  • I’m running late.
  • OK
  • Yes
  • No

Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®
The Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® interface is designed to offer hands-free operation for many Bluetooth®-enabled mobile telephones. Standard on all Accord trims, the system wirelessly connects the driver’s cell phone to the vehicle’s audio system. This allows the driver to make or answer cell phone calls without removing hands from the steering wheel. The system is compatible with Bluetooth®-enabled cell phones that have the Hands Free Profile (HFP). A list of compatible phones can be found at handsfreelink.com or honda.com.

Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® enables audio files to be played through the vehicle’s audio system wirelessly with a feature called Bluetooth® Audio. If a compatible audio device is paired, it allows the Bluetooth® device’s media to be played wirelessly by the audio system. Cell phone devices that support the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) 1.3 allow the display of metadata for artist, album and track name on the audio screen. The vehicle’s audio controls for “skip forward” and “skip backward” allow for navigation from track to track.

Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition and Honda HD Digital Traffic
Standard on the Accord EX-L Navi and Touring, the integrated Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System uses GPS technology to provide drivers with turn-by-turn guidance to their chosen destination. This all-new navigation system, developed in cooperation with Garmin, offers many improvements, including enhanced graphics, customized vehicle icons, 3D buildings and terrain, turn-by-turn directions displayed in the instrument cluster and more. The system includes free map database updates for up to 5 years (initial purchase plus one yearly update each year for 4 years). The system includes the HD Digital Traffic feature, which alerts the driver to current traffic conditions and can display alternate routes around gridlock. It features expanded coverage including many surface streets within the U.S., allowing the driver to choose faster, less congested routes. HD Digital Traffic is subscription-free.

The navigation system can be controlled by voice or through the 8-inch capacitive touch-screen audio display utilizing its tap, pinch and swipe functionality. The voice-activation system can respond to more casual command phrases that require less user familiarization, in addition to the previous capability of being able to understand spoken city and street names. This logic applies to audio functionality of the audio/information screen. The navigation system can also be controlled by voice with conventional navigation commands like, “Chinese restaurant” or “ATM.”

The audio system is automatically muted when the “Talk” button is pressed. The voice-recognition technology allows the driver to simply speak city and street names aloud, and the system responds by displaying the matches available in the database. Points of interest on the map – such as restaurants or grocery stores – can be displayed, or you can have the system provide turn-by-turn navigation, all by voice command. The massive point-of-interest (POI) database includes telephone numbers that can be dialed by using the Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® system when the driver’s cellular telephone is connected to the system.

The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System uses GPS in combination with detailed information from the vehicle’s mapping system to pinpoint the vehicle’s location and to provide a host of useful mapping and route guidance features. The system’s antenna receives positioning information from a network of 24 global positioning satellites. If the antenna is obstructed by a tunnel, a parking garage or a tall building, an internal gyroscopic system and a speed sensor track the location of the vehicle so that the map information remains current and reliable. The vehicle clock is independently controlled by GPS data, so when time zones are crossed while driving, the clock will automatically set itself to the current time.

Automatic Bluetooth® Phone Pairing with Near Field Communication (NFC)
To simplify phone pairing, Accord Touring trims are equipped with a Near Field Communications (NFC) system. To pair a compatible phone, simply tap the phone near to the NFC logo on the instrument panel, then follow the on-screen prompts. Once the phone has been paired with the vehicle, an additional tap on the NFC logo will transmit image data to the Accord’s audio system, where it can be displayed on the Display Audio system.

USB Ports and Connectivity Features
