HYUNDAI COMPLETES COURSE OF THE FORCE JOURNEY TO COMIC-CON

Charity Relay Benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation

COSTA MESA, Calif., July 11, 2012 – The Star Wars themed Course of the Force charity relay completed its journey to San Diego today. Hyundai, the official vehicle of the relay, joined Lucasfilm Ltd., Nerdist Industries and Octagon to complete an Olympic-style lightsaber relay where participants journeyed from Santa Monica to San Diego, leading up to Comic-Con International while benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.

The relay started on July 7 at the Santa Monica Pier and concluded today at Balboa Theatre in San Diego. Participants running the route handed off the official Course of the Force lightsaber to the next runner every quarter-mile. As the Course made its stops along the California coast, Star Wars-themed parties capped off a long day of running. One hundred percent of Course of the Force proceeds from runner registration benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation® chapters of Greater Los Angeles, Orange County and Inland Empire, and San Diego.

Hyundai provided 10 Veracruz, Santa Fe, and Tucson vehicles for the Course of the Force, including two Course of the Force-theme wrapped Hyundai vehicles covered in stars and colorful lightsabers that were part of the relay caravan down the coast.

As the relay concluded in San Diego today, Hyundai is also unveiling a custom Zombie Survival Machine at Comic-Con. The customized Hyundai Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine, designed by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and fabricated by Design Craft, will be revealed on the Comic-Con floor at the Future US booth. The Hyundai Undead program celebrates the release of the 100th issue of The Walking Dead comic.

“Hyundai is excited to be a part of Course of the Force, helping to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation,” said Steve Shannon, vice president, marketing, Hyundai Motor America. “We are proud to be a part of the Southern California community helping to celebrate Star Wars and build momentum leading up to Comic-Con International, all while raising money to make children’s wishes come true.”
