HYUNDAI TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $330,000 RAISED FOR CHARITY AT 2014 EVENT

KAPALUA, Maui, Hawaii, April 8, 2014 – The Hyundai Tournament of Champions is proud to announce that the 2014 event has raised a grand total of $333,185 for Maui charities. With this year’s addition, the tournament and host organizations have donated nearly $5 million to Maui Community Charities since its move to Maui in 1999.

The six primary beneficiaries of the 2014 event are Boy Scouts of America – Maui County Council, Friends of the Children’s Justice Center, Hale Makua Health Services, J. Walter Cameron Center, Ka Lima O Maui and Lahainaluna High School Foundation. As part of their relationship with the tournament, these designated beneficiaries assisted in promoting the event, offsetting costs, providing volunteers and much more.

Additionally, a donation was made to both the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association and Maui Junior Golf for their commitment to promoting and growing the game of golf among Hawaii’s youth.

Several local non-profits also benefitted from the tournament through its Golf for Maui Charities program, which gave 501(c)(3) organizations the opportunity to promote the sale of tickets to this year’s tournament and receive 100% of the net proceeds. The participating charities included:

  • Hale Makua Health Services
  • Chaplains for Christ International
  • Paia Youth Cultural Center
  • Maui Preparatory Academy
  • Maria Lanakila Church
  • Hale Kau Kau
  • Sacred Heart School
  • Lahainaluna High School
