KELLEY BLUE BOOK’S KBB.COM HONORS HYUNDAI’S SANTA FE AND SONATA WITH 2012 TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP AWARDS

COSTA MESA, Calif., Feb. 8, 2012 – Today at the Chicago Auto Show, Hyundai Santa Fe and Sonata were named recipients of the 2012 Total Cost of Ownership Awards from Kelley Blue Book, the leading provider in new and used vehicle-information. The 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe won in the Crossover segment while the 2012 Hyundai Sonata won in the Mid-Size Car segment.

“The 2012 Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe outperformed their respective segments this year for total ownership costs,” said Juan Flores, director of vehicle valuation for Kelley Blue Book. “The Sonata beat out the Kia Optima and Toyota Camry with its low insurance costs and savings in fuel and maintenance during the first five years, while the Santa Fe edged out competition in nearly every Total Cost of Ownership factor. Overall, both models are great buys among Hyundai’s impressive lineup.”

Kelley Blue Book’s annual Total Cost of Ownership Award honors vehicles and brands with the lowest projected Total Cost of Ownership during the initial five-year ownership period. The awards are determined by calculating vehicle depreciation costs and cost of fuel during ownership period along with critical financial data from third- party providers.

“We’re honored that Kelley Blue Book recognized two models with an award that directly influences Hyundai owners,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “The 2012 Santa Fe and Sonata are excellent examples of Hyundai’s commitment to delivering quality products that offer exceptional value, fuel efficiency, performance, and standard safety and convenience features.”

The Santa Fe crossover, with its refined design, proven dependability, versatility and extensive list of standard features is an ideal choice for families. The Santa Fe delivers outstanding fuel efficiency from its four-cylinder or V6 engines and six-speed automatic transmission.

The award-winning Hyundai Sonata continues to be a huge hit thanks to Fluidic Sculpture design, impressive fuel efficiency, advanced technology and overall value. The 2012 model includes Blue Link, HD Radio Technology and a new seven-inch touch-screen navigation.
