Plauen site will be retained after production move

Plauen will remain an MAN plant. This has been agreed between the MAN Truck Bus board and the representatives of MAN and NEOPLAN workers. The relocation of bus production from Plauen to Ankara will still take place by May 2015 as announced. Within this context, the board of directors together with the worker representatives are working on an economic plan to secure future prospects for the site in Saxony. However, only some of the 420 jobs which currently exist can remain at the Plauen site.

Talks are therefore being held simultaneously with Volkswagen Sachsen about the possibility of employing NEOPLAN workers in the VW plant at Zwickau. “Our most important aim is for every worker to receive a job or training place within the group,” explains Jochen Schumm, chief human resources officer for MAN Truck Bus AG, and continues: “We are committed to continuing high-quality training. Therefore, we will fulfil all existing training contracts, as well as those signed for 2014.”

Last Tuesday, MAN informed employees about the relocation of the bus production from the NEOPLAN site to Ankara by March 2015 and announced the prospect of new jobs at Volkswagen Sachsen.
