Mazda Canada reports sales for April 2017

RICHMOND HILL, ON, May 2, 2017 /CNW/ – Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) today reported April sales of 6,776 vehicles, which represents a decrease of 9.3 percent versus April 2016. Year to date sales are 22,260, which is an increase of 6.8 percent compared to the same period in 2016.

Key April 2017 sales notes:

  • April was the first full month of sales for the all-new 2017 CX-5, and the winning combination of refined style and craftsmanship with Mazda’s SKYACTIV Technology was in high demand. Even as inventory is still ramping up at dealers across the country, CX-5 had its best April sales ever with 2,497 vehicles sold, which is an increase of 3.2 percent year-over-year (YOY) from last year’s record April sales.
  • CX-9 continues its high-flying sales growth in the month of April, with an increase of 184.4 percent versus the same month in 2016. This is now the thirteenth consecutive month of YOY growth for the CX-9 following the launch of the second-generation model in spring 2016.
  • Total sales of Mazda’s CX crossover SUV line, including the CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9, were up 6.2 percent YOY with 3,830 vehicles sold in the month of April. When making purchase decisions regarding crossover SUVs, a majority of Mazda customers continue to choose the AWD option, with 75.8 percent of CX-line vehicles sold in April being equipped with predictive i-ACTIV All-Wheel Drive.
