Mazda Canada reports sales for January 2017

RICHMOND HILL, ON, Feb. 1, 2017 /CNW/ – Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) today reported January sales of  4,009 vehicles, representing an increase of 18.5 percent versus January 2016. This is the best January sales month for Mazda Canada since 2010.

Key January 2017 sales notes:

  • CX-5 started the year as the best-selling model in the Mazda lineup, ahead of the perennially best-selling Mazda3 compact car. CX-5 had its best January sales ever with 1,573 vehicles sold, which is an increase of 24.2 percent year-over-year (YOY).
  • CX-9 also sold in record numbers for the month of January, growing sales 145.3 percent versus the same month in 2016. This is also the tenth consecutive month of YOY growth for the new second generation CX-9 following its launch in spring 2016.
  • With the new MX-5 RF (retractable fastback) hitting dealerships in January, sales went through the (retractable) roof, as MX-5 earns the best January sales in 22 years, since 1995, with a 413.3 percent increase over last year.
  • Mazda3 also enjoyed a solid 12.3 percent gain in January sales, in a segment that is in decline.
  • Mazda’s line of CX crossover vehicles continue a strong growth trend, starting off 2017 with sales increasing by 19.8 percent.
  • SKYACTIV Technology proves to be the key between performance and fuel efficiency as customers demand a no compromise solution. 96.5 percent of Mazda vehicles sold in January were equipped with SKYACTIV Technology.
