Mazda Canada reports sales for May 2016

RICHMOND HILL, ON, June 1, 2016 /CNW/ –  Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) today reported May sales of  6,720 vehicles, representing an increase of 0.2 percent versus last year. Year-to-date sales through May are down 1.8 percent versus last year, with 27,562 vehicles sold.

Key May 2016 sales notes:

  • The all-new 2016 CX-9 started its first few days in dealerships with a splash, contributing to a year-over-year increase of 246.1 percent for its best May sales month ever.
  • MCI’s best-selling model continues to be the Mazda3, with 2,860 vehicles sold in May.
  • Mazda CX-5 had its best May sales ever with 2,188 vehicles sold, which is an increase of 14.8 percent versus May 2015. The CX-5 has now produced 12 straight months of record YOY sales.
  • Mazda’s all-new CX-3 sold 848 vehicles in May, and is the third highest seller in the Mazda lineup, behind the Mazda3 and CX-5.  
  • Mazda’s line of CX crossover vehicles continue a strong growth trend, with sales increasing by 23.3 percent in May. 
  • Demand for the new MX-5 continues to be strong as parts of the country experience unusually warm May temperatures, sending sales for the MX-5 up 183.6 percent, representing the best MX-5 sales in the month of May since 2008.
  • SKYACTIV Technology proves to be the key between performance and fuel efficiency as customers demand a no compromise solution. 92.9 percent of Mazda vehicles sold in May were equipped with SKYACTIV Technology.
