Mazda Motor Corporation last month announced it lost 67,000 units of production due to heavy rains and flooding in Hiroshima, Japan, in July that forced them to temporarily suspend vehicle production. Production losses for the Canadian market totaled more than 6,000 vehicles, with the greatest losses in CX-5 and CX-3 production.

KEY SEPTEMBER SALES NOTES:

  • CX-5 eked out a small sales win among Mazda models in September with 2,277 units sold, versus 2,267 for second-place Mazda3, which still holds the sales lead for Mazda Canada year-to-date.
  • In a challenging month, CX-9 sales proved resilient with a record September, increasing sales by 7.1 percent compared to a year ago.
  • YTD sales of Mazda’s CX-line remains strong, with CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9 collectively reaching 3,645 vehicles sold in the month of September. While this number represents a decrease of 9.9 percent YOY, collective sales of CX-series crossovers are still up by 14.4 percent YTD.
