Motorsport Festival at the Lausitzring: BMW Motorsport Juniors Krohn and Delétraz in the points in the BMW M6 GT3.

Lausitzring (DE), 5th June 2016. BMW Motorsport Juniors Jesse Krohn
(FI) and Louis Delétraz (CH) were part of this weekend’s Motorsport
Festival at the Lausitzring (DE), where they appeared in the ADAC GT
Masters at the wheel of the number 20 Schubert Motorsport BMW M6 GT3.
This was their second outing together, having also contested both
races at the Sachsenring (DE). The weekend’s programme at the
EuroSpeedway also featured the DTM, the SUPERBIKE*IDM, the ADAC
Formula 4, and the Porsche Carrera Cup, ensuring the crowds were
treated to a fantastic show.

The qualifying sessions for the two ADAC GT Masters races took place
on Friday. Krohn set an outstanding lap time in his group, putting him
third on the grid. Delétraz finished 17th against strong opposition in
his session.

Krohn made a good start to Saturday’s race and, for long periods, was
in contention for a place on the podium until he dropped a few places
towards the end of his stint. Delétraz attempted to make up ground
again after the driver change. However, the BMW M6 GT3 was so badly
damaged in a fierce battle that Delétraz was forced to return to the
pit lane and retire.

On Sunday, the two BMW Motorsport Juniors again battled hard to work
their way through the field from 17th on the grid. They achieved this
superbly thanks to a flawless performance and the fact that a number
of opponents were in trouble. The pair came home sixth to score
valuable points towards the overall standings. The number 19 Schubert
Motorsport BMW M6 GT3, which was making its first appearance and was
driven by Claudia Hürtgen (DE) and Niklas Mackschin (DE), failed to
finish race one and came home 20th on Sunday.

The BMW Motorsport Juniors were coached by BMW works driver Jörg
Müller (DE) throughout the entire weekend. He is acting as mentor to
all the Juniors who take their place at the wheel of the BMW M6 GT3
over the course of the year. Former BMW Juniors and current BMW DTM
drivers Timo Glock (DE), Martin Tomczyk (DE) and Marco Wittmann (DE)
also visited their successors in the Schubert Motorsport garage. The
ADAC GT Masters now takes a six-week summer break before the fourth
race weekend at the Red Bull Ring (AT) from 22nd to 24th July.

Jörg Müller: “We worked hard with the guys on the
set-up of the BMW M6 GT3 this weekend. I was involved in the
development and, therefore, am able to pass on a bit of experience.
The BMW M6 GT3 was very consistent in today’s race, which allowed
Jesse and Louis to work their way through the field superbly. Given
their starting position in the middle of the pack, that is a really
good result.”

Jesse Krohn: “It is fantastic that we were able to
score a few points. Unlike on Saturday, we were able to compete with
the other cars today. The progress we have made is very encouraging.
Jörg Müller gave us some valuable tips, which allowed us to optimise
the set-up. The team also did a magnificent job. This is how we want
things to continue.”

Louis Delétraz: “I had a fantastic opening lap on
Sunday. I was able to stay clear of all the skirmishes and was always
in the right place at the right time. I made up a lot of places that
way. Jesse then did a great job in his stint and ensured that I picked
up my first points in a GT race. I am delighted. Working with Jörg
Müller helped me a lot. I am totally new to GT racing, and can benefit
greatly from his experience.”
