Nissan: 1974 Datsun 260Z 2+2 (GRLS30)

New bumper and exhaust emissions regulations expedited the upgrade of the Datsun Z-car to 2.6 liters. Emissions restrictions dropped output and created some carburetion issues that left the 260 as the “black sheep” of the first-gen Zs. The 2+2 body style added tiny back seats, 200 lbs, and stretched the wheelbase to 119 inches. The 260Z was the first Z-Car to offer the 2+2.

Nissan North America is honored to have this particular example, the late Yutaka Katayama (Mr. K)’s personal company car in 1974-75. Mr. K is the father of the Z-car and was instrumental in bringing Datsun operations to the U.S. in 1960. Employees mixed a special iridescent metallic version of the factory yellow paint, and installed a retractable sunroof (not offered in the Z) for their beloved Mr. K.
