MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Next weekend, the Nissan Micra Cup will host the grand finale of the 2018 season as part of the Circuit Mont-Tremblant Fall Classic. At the Circuit Mont-Tremblant track in the heart of the Laurentians, thousands of spectators will watch in anticipation to see if Olivier Bédard, Normand Boyer and Fadi Mourad are officially declared champions in their respective classes.
Last year, the Nissan Micra Cup finale generated the largest attendance record in over 10 years; Circuit Mont-Tremblant had not seen a crowd that size since the 2006 American Champ Car (IndyCar Series). Although the race to secure this year’s championship title isn’t as tight as the 2017 series, there’s no doubt the final two races of the season will draw large crowds of spectators to take in the action.

The odds are in Olivier Bédard’s favour as he heads into the 2018 Fall Classic next weekend. If his closest rival Kevin King wins both races and claims points for pole position, in addition to achieving lap record in both races, then Bédard just needs to start one of the two races to claim his third overall title. Knowing the competitiveness of all drivers, Bédard will surely be battling for the win not only against King, but also Ontarian Jake Exton, winner of the 50th race of the Micra Cup series; Valérie Limoges, the first female driver to claim an overall win in the series; and Normand Boyer, a veteran driver who is almost guaranteed to earn his second consecutive Senior Class title.
Fadi Mourad has already earned enough points to secure his title as the 2018 Novice champion. However, along with Boyer and others, he will attempt to claim his first overall series victory in the final two races of the season.

American Mike Ogren, who is currently sitting in sixth overall, has shown consistent progression throughout the season. He’ll be one to watch next weekend along with Sylvain Ouellet, who’s sitting in eighth place overall and second in the Senior Class. Austin Riley will attempt to maintain his top 10 standing in the championship to cap off an exceptional sophomore season.
Nissan Micra owners can put themselves in series drivers’ shoes next weekend, with the chance to drive the Circuit Mont-Tremblant track during lunch breaks on Saturday and Sunday. To participate, Micra owners are invited to register online at: https://www.micracup.com/eventregistration/.
On Sunday afternoon, following the weekend’s second and final race, fans will have the opportunity to watch the podium celebrations for the two races as well as the 2018 Micra Cup season champions.

The Nissan Micra Cup drivers will take to the track six times next weekend for two practice sessions on Friday, plus two qualifying sessions and two races between Saturday and Sunday.
Schedule and how to follow the weekend’s events:
- Practice sessions: Friday, September 21, 9:30 a.m. – 9:55 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 2:25 p.m.
- First race qualifying: Saturday September 22, 9:25 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.
- First race: Saturday September 22, 1:15 p.m. – 1:55 p.m.
- Second race qualifying: Sunday, September 23, 9:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.
- Second race: Sunday September 23, 1:15 p.m. – 1:55 p.m.
Each race will last for a duration of 40 minutes.
