Nissan: Caruso wins Supercar Darwin battle in Australia

DARWIN, Northern Territory, Australia Nissan Motorsport is back in victory lane in Australia with Michael Caruso taking the No.23 Nissan Altima Supercar to victory at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway.

Caruso qualified on the front row for Saturday’s race and leapt into the race lead off the start. His victory is both his and Nissan Motorsport’s second in the category.

“It’s great to get a win, but also getting the most points over a race weekend for the second time this year,” said Caruso. “It really proves that it wasn’t a fluke the first time and we’re consistently moving forward. We qualified ninth in the shootout today and moved up to six, with a car that probably wasn’t as good as yesterday. When you can finish P6 with a car that you’re not happy with that, to me, is a great weekend. With Todd’s performance today we also achieved two front starts this round, which is a very, very positive result for everybody in our team. I really hope that everyone is proud of the hard work that they have put in because this is how we would like to leave every weekend. I really hope this result allows everyone, myself included, to arrive into a weekend knowing that we are genuine contenders for race wins.”

In the Sunday race, Caruso started ninth and finish sixth. Other highlights of the weekend included three of the four Nissans qualifying in the top 10 on Sunday including Todd Kelly qualifying on the front row.
