Nissan: GT-R NISMO GT3 squad pulls out two strong performances at Barber Motorsport Park

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Always Evolving/AIM Autosport Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 squad pulled out two strong performances at the picturesque Barber Motorsport Park last weekend in Pirelli World Challenge.

Inaugural GT Academy USA winner Bryan Heitkotter fought back from his Long Beach crash to finish sixth in both races, while Australian teammate James Davison was fourth in race one and eighth in race two.

Davison was forced to start further down the grid in ninth place on Sunday due to a penalty for contact in Saturday’s event. He made up one spot but he himself was the victim of contact while trying to gain additional spots and was forced to nurse the car to the finish.

Heitkotter won the GTA class in both races here last year – one of the steps which evicted him from the amateur class to do have to battle with the pros on a permanent basis.

“We had another good points run on Sunday,” said Heitkotter. “We didn’t quite have enough pace for the guys in front of us, and we were under pressure from behind all race. The GT-R was consistent and reliable and we were able to hold on to the position. Overall it was a pretty good points weekend. We need to find a little more pace to run at the front, but we’re going to a track next at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport) which should be pretty good for us. The GT-R loves the high speed flow of that place so I’m looking forward to that.”
