OYAMA, Japan – Former GT Academy leader Jann Mardenborough has kicked off his 2016 entrance deteriorate in Japan with new contrast for both Formula 3 and Super GT.
Mardenborough will expostulate in a GT300 difficulty with Kazuki Hoshino in Super GT and competition a Japanese F3 championship alongside Katsumasa Chiyo.
He tested a F3 automobile for B-MAX Racing with NDDP in a pre-season championship exam during Fuji Speedway in early March, his initial time behind in a difficulty given 2013.
“Being behind in a Formula 3 automobile was like saying an aged crony again,” pronounced Mardenborough. “I appreciated it a lot some-more now a integrate of years later. The automobile is incredible. It’s so agile, has so most downforce, and a motorist has a large purpose in a change of a car. At a exam it was soppy all day. It was my initial time racing in a soppy during Fuji. It’s flattering cold sitting in an F3 automobile doing 150 mph down a array straight. In a afternoon, we was half a second quicker than anybody else in a wet, that was a good start. Having Katsumasa Chiyo is a good benchmark to have. Hopefully he sees me as a same thing as good so that we can both pull any other along and that we can get good formula via a year. To have him around, he speaks good English and hopefully my Japanese can get improved as good so we can both promulgate most easier.”
Mardenborough switched from Formula 3 and Fuji to GT300 and Okayama on Mar 8 and 9 for his initial Super GT exam of 2016.
“The Super GT exam was also run in a soppy and we were doing a lot work for Yokohama,” pronounced Mardenborough. “The engaging thing about being on lane with a GT500 machines is they are so fast. You exit one dilemma and conduct into another corner, and they’re already behind we flashing a lights. Overall a exam was good – no damage. Everything that we wanted to exam we tested and it was good to get some chair time in a GT3 again. It was my initial time behind in a automobile given Silverstone final year in Blancpain.”
The initial turn of a Japanese Super GT Championship will be hold during Okayama on Apr 10 with a All-Japan Formula 3 Championship racing on Apr 23 and 24 during Suzuka.
