2017 Nissan Pathfinder Press Kit

Pathfinder, one of Nissan’s best known and most popular nameplates in its nearly 60-year history in the United States, is reborn for the 2017 model year with more adventure capability, a freshened exterior look and enhanced safety and technology – pure Pathfinder taken to an even higher level of performance, technology and style.

The changes for the new model year begin from the A-pillars forward – both with revised sheet metal and the re-engineered 3.5-liter V6 under the new hood design. The new Pathfinder engine utilizes more than 56 percent new or new-to-Pathfinder engine parts and components – including combustion chamber design, pistons, intake manifold and e-VTC (fully electronic on intake).

The engine’s new Direct Injection Gasoline™ (DIG) system, which is also utilized on the all-new flagship Nissan Armada full-size SUV, provides better wide-open throttle performance and emissions performance (versus a non-direct-injection system). Horsepower for the new V6 increases to 284 hp (from the previous 260 hp) and torque is now rated at 259 lb-ft (up from 240 lb-ft).

While adding more horsepower and torque, Pathfinder fuel economy remains 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined (2WD models) (estimated). Maximum towing capacity has increased by 1,000 pounds to a best-in-class* 6,000 pounds (when properly equipped).

The new 2017 Pathfinder is available in 4WD and 2WD drive configurations and in four models: S, SV, SL and Platinum. It is assembled in Tennessee. Key changes for 2017 include:

  • Bold new front end with signature LED boomerang headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights
  • Available LED headlights (Platinum grade)
  • New Nissan signature V-Motion grille design
  • Auto on/off headlights with auto hazard system (linked to front wipers with twilight detection) – standard on SV models and above
  • New hood and front bumper – projecting a wider stance and look
  • Revised taillight and rear bumper design, presenting a more detailed, precision appearance
  • Revised front chin spoiler and radiator grille for enhanced aerodynamics
  • Front (chin) and rear (roof) spoilers, rear tire deflectors and rear suspension fairing
  • 0.326 coefficient of drag
  • Body color bumpers and outside mirrors with integrated turn signals on all grade levels
  • Available Motion-Activated liftgate with liftgate position memory (standard on SL and Platinum grades)
  • New Sandstone and Caspian Blue exterior colors (nine available colors total)
  • New 3.5-liter DOHC V6 producing 284 horsepower (increase of 24 hp) and 259 lb-ft of torque (increase of 19 lb-ft) – resulting in enhanced 0–60 mph acceleration, re-acceleration response and higher torque throughout the rev range
  • New Direct Injection Gasoline™ (DIG) system, which provides better wide-open throttle performance and emissions performance (versus a non-direct-injection system) by reducing engine knock, improving combustion stability and offering precise injection control
  • Aluminum block and heads with new mirror bore cylinder coating (reduces weight and friction)
  • Third-generation Xtronic transmission (similar to Nissan Maxima design) with D-Step Logic Control, which simulates shifts, giving a more natural acceleration feeling without holding a high rpm constant, letting rpms build as speed builds; high final gear ratio of 5.250
  • Fuel economy of 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined (2WD models) (estimated)
  • Increased towing capacity – up to 6,000-pounds (when properly equipped) for all grade levels (SAE J2807 compliant)
  • Revised suspension for enhanced driving dynamics
  • Stiffer front and rear springs for improved roll and pitch/bounce motion control (versus previous design), rebound springs added to front struts
  • Modern interior design with 7-passenger seating with new cloth seat materials (S and SV grades)
  • Advanced Drive-AssistTM Display (ADAD) with additional infotainment and driver assistance displays (version 2016 Pathfinder design)

2017 Nissan GT-R Press Kit

Unveiled at the 2016 New York International Auto Show, the new 2017 GT-R is highlighted by a fresh look inside and out, as well as major driving performance enhancements and key new features. All told, this is the most significant change to Nissan’s flagship supercar since it was introduced in the U.S. as a 2009 model. Key changes for 2017 include:

  • The 2017 GT-R’s exterior receives a thorough makeover with a new “V-motion” grille; a new hood, featuring pronounced character lines and reinforced structure to enhance stability during high-speed driving; and new rear bodywork with functional side air vents next to the quad exhaust tips
  • In the cabin is a redesigned, premium interior befitting a high-performance supercar, including: a new instrument panel wrapped in a single, seamless piece of hand-selected Nappa leather; lighter front seats with a new side-support construction method that provides greater comfort and support on long drives
  • The center dashboard layout is improved and simplified; integrated navigation and audio controls reduce the number of switches from 27 in the previous car to just 11 in the 2017 model
  • An 8-inch capacitive touch-panel monitor replaces the 7-inch one and now features large icons on the display screen
  • A new Display Command control on the carbon-fiber center console allows easy operation
  • Shift paddles are now mounted to the new steering wheel, allowing drivers to change gears mid-turn without having to take their hands off the wheel
  • GT-R’s award-winning 3.8-liter V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine – each unit handcrafted by its own Takumi technician – now delivers 565 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 467 lb-ft of torque, representing an increase of 20 HP and 4 lb-ft, respectively, from last year’s model
  • The increases, which are the result of individual ignition-timing control of the cylinders and extra boost from the turbochargers, allow the new GT-R to possess superior acceleration in the mid- to high-ranges (3200 rpm and above)
  • Thoroughly refined 6-speed dual-clutch transmission features smoother shifts and less noise
  • New lightweight titanium exhaust system and Active Sound Enhancement (ASE) enhance the driving experience, especially during acceleration – standard on GT-R Premium grade; new sound absorption materials, including an acoustic glass windshield, help keep the cabin quieter at all speeds
  • A more rigid body structure and retuned suspension allow the GT-R’s tires, wrapped around new 20-inch 15-spoke forged aluminum wheels manufactured by RAYS®, to hold the road surface better, giving it increased stability through quick lateral transitions and higher overall cornering speed
  • New available “Blaze Metallic” orange exterior color, applied with a special four-stage process
  • New Rakuda Tan semi-aniline leather interior color (also available in Amber Red and Ivory)
  • Standard NissanConnectSM with Navigation, Mobile Apps and Services that allows smartphone users to remotely lock or unlock the car doors, receive notifications if the alarm is triggered, summon emergency services or track the car if it is stolen
  • On sale in mid-July at select GT-R certified Nissan dealerships nationwide

2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO

Now in its third year of availability, the race-oriented 2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO delivers factory-tuned supercar dynamics with advanced aerodynamics and ultra-precise handling. Key changes for 2017 include:

  • New front end, featuring an aggressive new fascia with a dark chrome “V-motion” grille (enlarged to collect more air, without diminishing the car’s aerodynamic performance); a new significantly reinforced hood to help reduce deformation at extremely high speeds
  • The front bumper of the GT-R NISMO features layers of carbon-fiber sheets carefully overlapped to achieve the ideal amount of stiffness; the side skirts have been designed to improve airflow around the vehicle and generate a high level of downforce, while at the same time, direct air around the wheelhouse to enhance aerodynamics
  • The new GT-R NISMO also benefits from the 2017 GT-R Premium’s refreshed interior; the redesigned dashboard and steering wheel are covered with high-quality Alcantara® suede
  • The center stack layout has been improved and simplified, with the number of integrated navigation and audio controls reduced from 27 switches in the previous model to only 11 in the 2017 version
  • An enlarged 8-inch touch-panel monitor featuring large icons on the display screen make it simple to use, while a new Display Command control on the carbon fiber center console allows easy operation without having to touch the monitor
  • Unique to GT-R NISMO are leather-appointed Recaro® seats with red synthetic suede inserts
  • Upgraded performance thanks in part to the stiffened body structure, which allowed engineers to further refine the GT-R NISMO’s shock absorbers, springs and stabilizers, which, when combined with the car’s added downforce, result in a better handling car than the previous model
  • On sale Fall 2016 at select GT-R certified Nissan dealerships nationwide

2017 Nissan TITAN Crew Cab Pickup (half-ton)

The 2017 Nissan TITAN half-ton pickup, which made its world debut at the 2016 New York International Auto Show, is the standard bearer of Nissan’s family of TITAN pickups. It is projected to be the highest volume TITAN, competing in the heart of the full-size pickup segment.

The TITAN half-ton has the same aggressive style as the TITAN XD, but is about a foot shorter in wheelbase. The XD and half-ton models share the same cabs, but while they offer similar ruggedness and durability, the TITAN half-ton’s chassis is completely different than XD.

The new TITAN half-ton is 228.1 inches long – 14.7 inches less than the larger TITAN XD (242.8 in.). The 2017 TITAN half-ton will initially launch as a Crew Cab model, with Single and King Cab variants planned for later in the 2017 model year. Three bed lengths will be available – 5.5, 6.5 and 8.0 feet – along with five grade levels, S, SV, SL, PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve.

The new TITAN half-ton is powered by Nissan’s 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 gasoline engine, assembled in Decherd, Tenn., which produces 390 horsepower. Torque is rated at 394 lb-ft. The engine, which is also featured in the TITAN XD V8 Gas, is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. A V6 gasoline engine will also be available (details to be announced at a later date).

The 2017 TITAN half-ton goes on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide in late summer 2016. Pricing will be announced at that time.
