Nissan: Nissan celebrates massive gathering of LEAF owners in Montreal for ‘Branchez-Vous’ 2015

MISSISSAUGA, ON. – On Saturday, April 18, 148 owners of all the all-electric Nissan LEAF met-up at the third annual Branchez-Vous event, marking one of the largest gathering of Nissan LEAF vehicles in Canada. Branchez-Vous 2015 also saw a significant number of 100 per cent electric vehicles (EV) gathered in one place in Canada – 301.

Branchez-Vous was organized by the National Centre of Advanced Transportation (CNTA) in collaboration with its partners, including the Electric Circuit and the Government of Quebec. As the pioneer in mass-market, emission-free mobility, Nissan was a proud automotive sponsor of the event and several of its Quebec-based dealers participated: H. Grégoire Chomedey Nissan; Nissan Gabriel Group; Park Avenue Nissan; Nissan Spinelli Pointe Claire, and Metro Nissan. The participating Nissan dealers, as well as representatives from Nissan’s Canadian headquarters, supplied 9 Nissan LEAFs to participate in the test-drive experience which took place on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

“In 2014, the Nissan LEAF recorded its best-ever year in Canada, and in a big way – sales more than doubled the 2013 results and tripled in Quebec. This is clear proof that not only do more Canadians see the huge cost-savings in owning a Nissan LEAF, but also that the electric vehicle market is developing strongly, especially in Quebec,” says Christian Meunier, president of Nissan Canada Inc. “Therefore, we are delighted to be a major sponsor of the third Branchez-Vous event. It’s amazing to see electric vehicle owners come out in huge numbers to make it loud and clear that emission-free motoring makes sense from a cost of ownership perspective, and also helps to achieve healthier and more habitable cities.”

Electric vehicle owners came from all over Quebec, and some even drove as far away as Prince Edward Island, Ontario and Vermont to meet and participate in the EV parade and test-drive program.

Much like the Branchez-Vous record-setting event, the Nissan’s LEAF success story is all about the numbers. Since Nissan launched the Nissan LEAF, the world’s first-ever mass produced all-electric car in 2010, it has cemented its position as the global leader of zero emissions vehicles and sold more 165,000 units globally, resulting in more than 1 billion kilometres of road being driven without producing any combustible emissions or damage to the atmosphere*. Nissan has further bolstered its dedication to EV leadership with Nissan’s recent investment in 25 DC Fast Charging sites in the Electric Circuit. The partnership agreement is part of a new phase of development of the Electric Circuit, which targets up to 50 sites in high-traffic, major road corridors and large urban centres.
