Nissan: Nissan drives its way to the top with multiple awards at 2015 Miami International Auto Show

MIAMI, Fla. – As part of the 45th Miami International Auto Show, the Nissan Murano was named “SUV of the Year” by the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA). The nine judge panel based their decision on three main criteria: design, technology and value.

“Miami is a city that embraces style and has high standards in automobiles,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales Marketing and Operations U.S., Nissan North America, Inc. “It is, therefore, a special honor for the 2015 Nissan Murano to be chosen by journalists members of the Southern Automotive Press Association as the SUV of the Year at the 2015 Miami International Auto Show. The Murano’s bold design, premium interior and thoughtful technologies continue to bring style and functionality to consumers across the Southern states.”

This is the eighth consecutive year that SAMA has presented the awards during its annual luncheon on the opening day of the Miami International Auto Show. A prestigious panel of SAMA members walked the floor of the show prior to opening to review the vehicles and determine which models would receive the coveted SAMA awards.

“The Nissan Murano is more luxurious and dynamic than ever before,” said Bill Adam, president of the Southern Automotive Media Association. “As products get better every year, it becomes more of a challenge to stand out in the crowd and the daring design of the Murano makes a bold statement. The Murano is a tremendous, well-rounded buy for drivers looking for a fun-to-drive, well-equipped and extremely comfortable crossover.”

Nissan also received five accolades from Ruedas ESPN during the 2015 Miami International Auto Show. At the 13th Annual Ruedas ESPN Awards Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 6, Nissan North America was named Ruedas ESPN Manufacturer of the Year. Additionally, the zero emission Nissan LEAF was crowned Ruedas ESPN Best Electric Car, the Nissan TITAN was rewarded the Ruedas ESPN Best Full-Size Pick Up, and the Nissan Maxima took home two titles, the Ruedas ESPN Best Luxury Sedan and Ruedas ESPN Car of the Year.

The editorial board of Ruedas ESPN, the leading Spanish-language automotive radio show in the United States, is responsible for nominating in 12 different categories including: Car of the Year, Manufacturer of the Year, Best Hybrid Car, Best Economy Car and more. A group of industry experts then chooses the winners based on design, value, price, performance, fuel economy and appeal among Hispanic shoppers.
