MISSISSAUGA, ONT. – As Nissan readies to launch the 2016 Nissan Rogue this fall, demand for the boldly designed crossover has never been higher – a trend that is expected to continue with a number of significant enhancements for the new model year.

Totally redesigned just two years ago, Rogue adds to its already impressive suite of available safety, security and convenience features with the addition of available Forward Emergency Braking (FEB), Siri™ Eyes Free and new telematics services.

“The crossover segment, particularly small crossovers, is the hottest part of the automotive market right now,” said Steve Rhind, director of marketing, Nissan Canada Inc. “The Nissan Rogue is leading the sales growth pace and has not yet shown us the upper limits of the potential in the market.”

From first full-year sales of 13,163 units in 2008 to nearly 29,000 unit sales last year, Rogue has become one of the hottest-selling small crossovers in the Canadian market.

The Nissan Rogue set an August 2015 sales record at 3,632 units, marking 21 consecutive months of record sales in Canada. Rogue also became the first-ever Nissan vehicle to be on the list of top 10 sellers in Canada, in tenth position for three months in a row.

For its second consecutive year, the Nissan Rogue was awarded “Top Safety Pick” in 2015 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The established “Top Safety Pick” award recognizes passenger vehicles that excel in protecting passengers in moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests and also achieve a “good” or “acceptable” rating in the small overlap frontal test.

Sales of Rogue and the all-new Murano are leading Nissan’s recent sales surge, with Murano sales up 45.0 per cent in August and Rogue up 29.7 per cent (versus August 2014 sales). The 2016 Maxima, which went on sale in early June, is already showing strong consumer interest.

As in the previous two years, the 2016 Rogue combines emotive styling, a premium interior created with comfort and multi-tasking in mind, and an array of available affordable technologies. Rogue again offers optional 3-row/7-passenger seating, along with exceptional passenger and cargo flexibility with its innovative EZ Flex Seating System™ and innovative Divide-N-Hide® Cargo System.

Nissan’s advanced Forward Emergency Braking (FEB), which is usually found on more expensive luxury vehicles, uses radar technology to monitor speed and proximity to the vehicle ahead. It provides audible and visual display warnings to notify on when to reduce speed, if necessary, and can also apply braking to help avoid a collision. If a collision is unavoidable, this feature will automatically engage the brakes to help reduce speed of impact and reduce the severity of a collision. It is also available now on Murano and Maxima.

The Siri™ Eyes Free feature allows drivers to access much of the functionality of the iPhone®’s Siri™ features using the vehicle’s steering wheel controls. Siri™ Eyes Free available functions include making and receiving calls, sending and reading text messages, selecting and playing music, reading notifications and requesting directions or other information. This feature is available on Rogue SV AWD Moonroof + Technology Package and Rogue SL AWD Premium.

Available NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM feature Emergency Preparedness, Remote Access, Customizable Alerts and Concierge Services (subscription required, sold separately). The system, which is offered on Rogue SL AWD Premium with a six-month free trial subscription, includes Automatic Collision Notification, Stolen Vehicle Locator, and Emergency Calling.

The engine is matched with an advanced Xtronic transmission. Rogue comes in three well-equipped models: S, SV and SL, each in a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

For 2016, Nissan is proud to present an all-new model, the Rogue SV Special Edition. The SV Special Edition will reduce the current upgrade from S to SV grade by providing additional features at a lower price point, including heated seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, intelligent key with push button start, fog lights, tonneau cover, auto on/off headlights, 6-way power driver seat and power driver lumbar support, privacy glass and two additional speakers. The Rogue SV Special Edition makes these highly desired features available at a lower price point.

Specific Rogue enhancements for 2016 include:

  • Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) added to Rogue SL Premium Package
  • NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM added to Rogue SL AWD Premium
  • Blind Spot Warning (BSW) functionality changed from camera-based to radar-based
  • Siri™ Eyes Free added to Rogue SV AWD Moonroof + Technology Package and Rogue SL AWD Premium
  • Addition of SV Special Edition model
  • Addition of two new exterior colours: Magnetic Black and Glacier White

Available in October 2015, the 2016 Nissan Rogue is priced as follows:
