DETROITCars.com and PickupTrucks.com have selected the all-new 2016 Nissan TITAN XD as the “Best Pickup Truck of 2016” over five other nominated vehicles. In addition, the 2016 Nissan Rogue crossover was named Cars.com‘s “Family Car of the Year.” The awards were announced tonight at a ceremony held at The Fillmore Detroit in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show.

“Nissan is honored and humbled to be recognized as the top vehicles in these two extremely significant and popular vehicle categories,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc. “These awards are a great way to kick off the new year, following our record 2015 sales of nearly 1.5 million vehicles.”

The Cars.com and PickupTrucks.com editors had much to say about both of the category winning vehicles:

“The all-new 2016 Nissan Titan XD isn’t just breaking new ground for the automaker as its first significant attempt to compete in the highly competitive and profitable full-size pickup truck marketplace. The Titan XD is also breaking new ground for the industry, offering a ‘tweener’ model that sits smack in the middle of the well-established 150/1500 and 250/2500 pickup truck segments.”

The editors also called the TITAN XD’s standard “smart and torquey” Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine the truck’s “secret weapon.” The engine is rated at 310 horsepower and 555 lb-ft or torque and is mated to a heavy-duty 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission. The 2016 TITAN XD is offered in five grade levels: S, SV, SL, Platinum Reserve and the sporty PRO-4X grade.

In selecting the 2016 Nissan Rogue as the “Family Car of the Year,” the Cars.com wrote: “Flexibility puts the Rogue at the top of its class. The Rogue has a handy cargo-management system that helps separate and organize the cargo area. It’s not only versatile, it’s good-looking, fuel-efficient and affordable. Busy families expect a lot out of their vehicle, and the Rogue delivers.”

The editors also praised Rogue’s value proposition: “The Rogue is one of those segment-buster SUVs that can work for small or large families, thanks to its optional third row, increasing seating capacity from five to seven. And with a starting price rivaling much smaller SUVs, the Rogue’s size-to-dollar ratio is off the charts.” The 2016 Nissan Rogue has a starting MSRP** of $23,290.

Every 2016 Nissan Rogue is equipped with a responsive 170-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, advanced Xtronic transmission with Sport and Eco Mode switches. Rogue is available with an intuitive All-Wheel Drive system or front-wheel drive. Available technology features include NissanConnect with Navigation and Mobile Apps, 7.0-inch color touch-screen display, Nissan Voice Recognition for navigation and audio, NavTraffic and NavWeather, SiriusXM® Travel Link (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately); class-exclusive*** Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection (MOD); radar-based Blind Spot Warning (BSW); and Forward Emergency Braking (FEB). The 2016 Rogue is offered in three well-equipped trims, S, SV and SL.
