Nissan: SUPER GT star Daiki Sasaki dominates Fuji Formula 3 with two wins

OYAMA, Japan – SUPER GT ace Daiki Sasaki dominated the weekend’s Japanese Formula 3 action at Fuji with two wins for the B-MAX Nissan Driver Development Program team.

Sasaki held off teammate Jann Mardenborough in Saturday’s race by a mere 0.612 of a second and completely dominated on Sunday, scoring the win with a 2.644 second margin.

Mardenborough backed up his runner-up spot on Saturday with fourth place in Sunday’s race. Katsumasa Chiyo scored fourth on Saturday but struck problems on Sunday to finish out of contention, three laps down.

“I’m very happy to be able to produce great results of two wins,” said Sasaki. “I fell behind our rivals at Suzuka, so I was determined to get ahead of them this time. On Saturday we were able to show total strength of the team by finishing 1-2 with my team mate Jann Mardenborough.”

Sasaki, Mardenborough and Chiyo now sit second, third and fifth in the points after the opening two weekends in the championship.
