NISSAN SUPPORTS NATIONAL PLUG IN DAY; THEATRICAL PREMIER OF ‘REVENGE OF THE ELECTRIC CAR’

More than 7,200 Nissan LEAF owners around the United States have the opportunity on Oct. 16 to celebrate National Plug In Day. This first-of-its-kind event is a gathering of owners of the Nissan LEAF and other electric cars in 26 cities around the United States. The week culminates with the Oct. 21 theatrical premier of the critically acclaimed documentary Revenge of the Electric Car, which prominently features the development of the Nissan LEAF, the world’s first and only mass-marketed all-electric car.

“One year ago, the Nissan LEAF was just gaining public awareness,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Nissan North America. “Today, thousands of drivers have chosen to go all-electric, with many more to come. We applaud the organizers of National Plug In Day and encourage LEAF drivers across the country to take part in Sunday’s festivities and show their support for this growing movement.”

National Plug In Day champions the benefits of plug-in vehicles and is organized by Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association. In Los Angeles, New York and many cities in between, EV owners and enthusiasts will participate in electric car parades, “tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, lectures, and other grassroots events. The critically acclaimed documentary Revenge of the Electric Car opens in theaters in Los Angeles and New York on Oct. 21, and more cities across the country in the coming weeks. Filmmaker and electric-car advocate Chris Paine directs the movie, which follows executives including Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn in his industry-leading pursuit of zero-emission leadership.
