NISSAN THE NEW MOTION ANNOUNCE NETHERLANDS EV PLUG-IN PACKAGE

Safe and efficient home charging for less than €1,000

Nissan Netherlands and Dutch mobility services provider The New Motion have partnered to provide Nissan LEAF owners in the Netherlands with home and office charging solutions for recharging their 100% electric car as efficiently and safely as possible.

Installed for just €995 including VAT, a dedicated charging point – complying with all current legislation and certified by Nissan – will achieve a full charge at 16amp in less than eight hours. As it operates on its own circuit, the charging unit allows all other domestic appliances to continue running efficiently in parallel.

Nissan LEAF customers will also be able to sign up for access to the network of fast charge stations that is currently being rolled out by The New Motion on major routes across the country. Five fast charge points, which will charge a Nissan LEAF from zero to 80% in about 30 minutes, are already operational. A total of 30 points will be installed by the end of 2012.

The New Motion has also developed a Public Charging package for Nissan LEAF owners. This service, which costs €385 including VAT, provides full service assistance for the installation of a public charge point close to the customers’ premises funded by the municipality.

“This agreement with The New Motion is an important step in launching Nissan LEAF in the Netherlands. Access to home and public charging stations is a must for the introduction of electric vehicles. Thanks to The New Motion’s charging solutions, Nissan LEAF owners can enjoy the same freedom as a conventional car,” said Pierre Boutin, managing director of Nissan West Europe SAS.

* Nissan LEAF is the current European and World Car of the Year and recently won a top five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, making it one of the safest cars on the road in Europe. Deliveries of Nissan LEAF, which has a range between charges of up to 175 km as tested over the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), have begun in Japan, the US and in parts of Europe.

The family hatchback is powered by an in-house developed compact electric motor and inverter in the front of the car which drives the front wheels. The AC motor develops 80 kW of power and 280 Nm of torque, enough for a maximum speed of 145 km/h.

The zero-emission vehicle comes fully equipped with features such as air conditioning, satellite navigation, a parking camera, a quick charge socket and innovative smart-phone connectivity.
