- Continued strong performance for leading crossovers Qashqai, Qashqai+2
- Market Share June 2013 – 3.4%, in line with 2012
ROLLE, Switzerland – Today Nissan in Europe announced sales of 54,115 units in June. For the calendar year-to-date Nissan’s sales in Europe hit 325,672 units, boosted by the ever-popular crossovers Qashqai and JUKE.
Nissan’s results in June 2013 show a healthy performance across all markets, notably in the UK where Nissan has a strong manufacturing footprint, sales increased 7.8% on last month.
Across the Nissan model range sales were directly in line with 2012 figures contributing to the healthy 3.4% market share across the region. Accumulative market share from January to June 2013 stands at 3.3%.
Nissan’s European order bank unsurprisingly continues to be driven by Qashqai, JUKE and X-Trail. June stars also include the newly refreshed Nissan Micra which is already proving extremely popular with European customers with sales up year on year. Another revamped model in the Nissan line-up, the New all electric Nissan LEAF shows sales up 74% on June 2012 figures.
Nissan Europe Sales Vice President, Guillaume Cartier, said: “The difficulties facing the European car market in 2013 are well-documented. Therefore achieving this solid month in sales volume at the halfway stage gives us confidence that we are offering the right products that appeal to, and meet the needs of, our European customers.
“Nissan designs, develops and produces an increasing number of vehicles within the region. More than 80% of our sales are of models manufactured at our plants in the UK, Spain and Russia. This gives us great affinity with our customer base and allows us to closely align our operation to market shifts.
“There is no doubt that the second half of the year will continue to pose challenges for all manufacturers, but I’m confident in the strength of our model line-up. In Bratislava we have recently shown to media and our dealers the all-new NOTE and revised Micra, which are destined to boost our performance for the rest of 2013.”
