Pathfinder Concept Previews Next-Gen SUV

Automotive media from around the world attending the opening press day of the 2012 North American International Auto Show were treated to an early look at the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder – a total re-imaging of Nissan’s iconic SUV. The all-new, fourth-generation Pathfinder is scheduled to go on sale in the United States beginning in fall 2012.

While many details of the new vehicle, shown in Detroit as the Pathfinder Concept, are being saved for a later date, what is clearly evident is Pathfinder’s dramatic new look – bold, powerful and very aerodynamic. The new 7-passenger Pathfinder is expected to deliver a 25-percent increase in fuel economy, along with ample towing and cargo carrying flexibility.

“We’ve created a vehicle with an extraordinary balance of SUV capability, thoughtful technology and premium comfort to lead the segment once again,” explained Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc.

The Nissan Pathfinder was originally introduced as a 1986 model, with major redesigns in 1996, 2005 and now 2013. Throughout its 27-year history it has remained one of Nissan’s most popular and most recognized nameplates, with more than 1.2 million Pathfinders sold in the U.S. alone.
