Porsche Selects Jacksonville as New Southeastern Port of Entry

U.S. Porsche dealers sell 5,008 vehicles in August

Atlanta, Georgia. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA) today announced the selection of Jacksonville, Florida, as its port of entry for new Porsche vehicles bound for dealers in the southeastern United States, effective October 2015.

PCNA Vehicle Logistics Manager Howard Chang explained, “Porsche conducted an extensive bid process and found Jaxport and the selected processing company, AMPORTS, offered the optimum combination of efficiency, quality, and service. We thank the processor, the port, and the Florida Department of Transportation for their responsiveness to our needs.”

PCNA has imported cars for the southeast through Brunswick, Georgia, since 2002. Chang explained Porsche vehicles travel on the same vessels as Audi, Bentley, and Volkswagen vehicles bound for the region, and that when those companies moved to Jacksonville recently it necessitated an inefficient extra stop for every vessel. “Our goal is to ensure every waiting Porsche customer receives the car they want as fast we can get it to them,” Chang noted.

Chang commended the company’s relationship with the Port of Brunswick and the State of Georgia. “We have had a wonderful relationship with the Port of Brunswick and our processor there, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics,” Chang said. “We wish them every future success. We are gratified to learn they already have other customers to fill the space and we are confident employment there will stay the same or maybe even grow.”

PCNA has other ports of entry in Davisville, Rhode Island; Houston, Texas; and San Diego, California. PCNA will continue importing genuine Porsche replacement parts through the Port of Savannah, Georgia.
