The Vice-President for Governmental and Institutional Relations for SEAT and the Volkswagen Group in Spain, Ramón Paredes, and the Vice-President for Human Resources, Josef Schelchshorn, have delivered this afternoon the vehicles to the Catalan (Generalitat) government’s Minister for Education, Irene Rigau, in the presence of representatives of the training centres at the company’s facilities in Martorell.

The cars, new and in perfect condition, are models on display in various motor shows or produced according to the needs of different international markets. The donated units –27 of which are of the new SEAT Leon– will be distributed among 28 public training centres, which will make use them as working and learning tools for students.

Irene Rigau, the Catalan government’s Minister for Education, highlighted the fact that this is “an emblematic example of close collaboration between the worlds of business and vocational training”. The Minister added that “with these 28 vehicles SEAT, in addition to maintaining its Apprentices School, where it participates in the development of dual training, also collaborates in the renovation and improvement of equipment belonging to the institutes of the Department of Education”. As a result, she continued that “SEAT thus becomes a benchmark company in the field of training”.

Ramón Paredes highlighted the ability of SEAT to collaborate and assist in the training of students: “We are delighted to contribute to the best practical training of these young people who, like SEAT, trust in vocational training as a success option for their future”.

The donation is part of the collaboration agreement signed by SEAT and the Catalan government in July 2013 to promote the practical aspect of vocational training, of which SEAT is a pioneer thanks to the introduction of the dual vocational training system in its Apprentice School last year 2012-2013. With this donation, the company resumes the donation program to Spanish public schools, which in the coming months will provide new teaching material to vocational training centres of Madrid and Valencia, among others.
