Prestigious award given by the Sports Press Association of Las Palmas and Tenerife
The new SEAT Leon has been singled out as “Best Car of the Canary Islands 2014”, a prestigious award given by the Sports Press Association of Las Palmas and Tenerife that is yet further proof of the enormous popularity enjoyed by the Spanish brand’s compact car in the market.
The SEAT Leon took on and conquered intense competition, including novelties unveiled and promoted last year that were sold in the seven-island archipelago. The judging panel of eight motor trade journalism specialists (four each from Las Palmas and Tenerife) gave top scores to the Leon for its dynamic qualities, technology, quality, design, innovation, ecology and price, as well as the level of customer service and professionalism of the sales network that caters to the islands.
SEAT Spain director Mikel Palomera pointed out that “we are overwhelmed with this award since the Canary Islands market is an important cornerstone for SEAT sales in the country. The new Leon is a successful model and perfectly represents the SEAT values. We are extremely pleased that the Canary Islands trade press has chosen our model out of a field of worthy competitors.”
The prestigious “Best Car of the Canary Islands” award is highly recognised by the entire automotive sector of the Islands and held in great esteem in the rest of Spain. This year it has celebrated its ninth edition and is fully consolidated as one of the most outstanding prizes awarded in Spain.
This is clearly a new success for the Spanish brand’s compact car, which keeps picking up prizes in both Spain and the rest of Europe. It is indicative of the leading position the new SEAT Leon has moved into, thanks to an attractive range of models made up of three bodystyles for the first time in its history – a universal five-door, the three-door SC and the recently launched ST compact estate.
