ŠKODA’s top position as the largest manufacturing company in Central Europe and the third largest company in the region reflects the traditional car manufacturer’s outstanding development: “ŠKODA is an important part of the Czech economy and has become an internationally recognized volume manufacturer,” explains ŠKODA Board Member for HR Bohdan Wojnar. Step by step, ŠKODA are strengthening their position as a high-volume manufacturer and are significantly increasing sales and deliveries.

As part of their growth plans, ŠKODA is set to expand in the international emerging markets of China, India, Russia and Europe. The company is investing heavily in the Czech home market to develop their market position in Europe. In 2012 alone, the company’s fixed asset investments increased by around 45% to a record 832 million euros; the vast majority of which was allotted to investments in the Czech Republic.

The main production plant in Mladá Boleslav has been extensively modernized and expanded to accommodate the production of the ŠKODA Rapid/Rapid Spaceback and the new ŠKODA Octavia. The Technology and Development Centre in Česana, which is near the headquarters in Mladá Boleslav, is currently being extended. Around 34 million euros have been invested in the construction of a new Powertrain Centre alone; this is one of the largest investments in development in the Czech Republic to date. ŠKODA is the only automobile manufacturer that produces and develops in the Czech Republic.
