Jacky Ickx and Claude Brasseur won the legendary Paris-Dakar Rally in 1983 in their Mercedes-Benz 280 GE. The “Dakar” covered some 12,000 kilometres through France, Algeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, the Ivory Coast, Mali and Mauritania to Senegal.
Ickx and Brasseur set such a good pace that they completed a special stage faster than the best motorbike – a Dakar premiere! The year before, they took second place, also with the famous off-road G-model.
