The new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is undisputed, setting a new standard with its horsepower and torque

Details surrounding the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor trickled out all year long, with information about the all-new 10-speed transmission, terrain modes, and exclusive new rubber teasing us like the smell of turkey and all the fixings before Thanksgiving dinner .

But Raptor fans are a bit of a different breed. They’re the kind of people who, as kids, flip over the baseball card of their favorite player, eager to read the stats well before Opening Day.

The announcement of Raptors’ horsepower and torque ratings was hotly anticipated, as enthusiasts waited (im)patiently, like kids do for Christmas morning, only able to speculate about the truck’s capability. With the second-generation 3.5-litre EcoBoost engine paired with the all-new 10-speed transmission, the sky was the limit.

Finally the numbers are in and they DO NOT disappoint.

An awe-inspiring 450 horsepower that also comes with an added bonus: improved fuel economy. The high output of the new 3.5L EcoBoost engine combines with the 10-speed transmission and a reduction of weight by 225 kilograms (500 pounds) to result in fuel-savings of 21%!

While that horsepower is important to have (and fun to use), the 2017 Raptor also boasts a torque increase of 76 lb-ft over previous models.

The all-new 10-speed transmission makes sure drivers get the most from 510 lb-ft of torque, combining with a “torque-on-demand” transfer case and the exciting Terrain Management system to deliver the performance you expect from the Raptor, no matter the situation.

When Ford Performance engineering supervisor Matt Tranter says “Raptor was designed to be a no-compromise, off-road performance machine,” you can see it in every touch, every refinement, and every detail of the 2017 F-150 Raptor. It is unlike any truck on (or off) the road, a finely tuned machine that certainly draws (or rather, carves) a line in the sand.
