Volkswagen is presenting the new “Race Anywhere” game for smartphones on an exclusive basis. The app can already be downloaded free of charge from the App Store and will be available from Google Play in the near future. For the first time users can send their VW Polo to the start on a track they have designed by themselves with the Track Editor. They can then post their best time on Facebook and defend it against challengers amongst their friends.
The Volkswagen app is an entirely new interpretation of classical racing games. A mobile version for iOS is available with immediate effect and an Android version is due to follow in the near future. In contrast to previous racing games, players can design their racing adventure themselves. As soon as they have taken a photo on their smartphone, they can use it to plan an individual rally track. Users can choose between asphalt, gravel, mud and snow surfaces.
The app offers four practice routes for warming up. Then players can go to the start with a VW Polo*, a Polo R WRC or a Polo GTI**. The challenge is to trigger speed boosts and drifts at precisely the right time. Apart from a clear head, players need rapid reactions for the ideal combination of timing and speed. After three laps, the race is over.
With the app from Volkswagen, the rally drivers can then meet on Facebook, where they can share their results and challenge friends to beat their best times.
The “Race Anywhere” app from Volkswagen is available with immediate effect in four languages for iOS devices. An Android version will appear in the stores in the near future.
