Whoa, Black Beetle. Bam-a-lam.

In the first spot for the 2012 VW Beetle, cutting-edge CGI creative goes entomological, creating a photo-real lush kingdom where the Black Beetle rules out-running, out-navigating and out-performing everything in its path.

The commercial aired Sunday, February 6 during the Big Game, but heres a look at the events of the not-so-urban jungle turned playground. The performance-based spot kicks off communications about the 2012 Beetle, which, true to the commercial, take the VW icon in a decidedly high-performance direction. The car has been completely redesigned with emphasis on aggressive body stylinga change that is evident by the stylized silhouette at the end of the commercial.

The ad was created with the help of the Mill, a London-based production company known for their Oscar-winning work on the film Gladiator. It features The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion giving a spirited rendition of the classic rocker Black Betty. Enjoy.
