Acura Automobiles: Acura Announces July 2011 Sales Results

While the MDX luxury SUV remained Acura’s best selling model, Acura sedan sales edged out light truck sales in July. Acura total car sales for July were 4,762, down 24.4 percent based on daily selling rate*. Total sales for Acura were 9,402 units (down 25.0 percent) while year-to-date sales reached 70,082— down 5.5 percent.

“Although production shortages from Japan have greatly improved, the overall ripple effect from low inventory continues to hurt sales,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. “However, with most models returning to full production in August, we are hoping for a strong finish to the year.”

Acura car sales were led by the TL performance luxury sedan with 2,555 units sold, down 15.0 percent. Closely following the TL was the TSX sports sedan with 2,137 units sold, down 31.5 percent.

Acura light truck sales totaled 4,640 units in July with MDX posting sales of 3,438 units, down 14.9 percent. The RDX crossover SUV was Acura’s next best selling light truck with 1,100 units sold, down 33.1 percent.
