Albert Mayer

Albert Mayer was born in 1954 in Neuburg an der Donau.

He studied mechanical engineering at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.

Mayer started his career in 1979 at AUDI AG in Ingolstadt, where he first worked as a clerk in the department for assembly and paint-shop inspection.

In April 1986, he was made manager of vehicle final inspections within the assembly inspection department. From 1992 until 1997, he was responsible for quality assurance in the press shop/body shop, and subsequently for production planning for the Ingolstadt plant. As of 2001, Mayer was in charge of quality assurance in Ingolstadt, and he held the same position at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm from 2003 onwards.

In 2006, Mayer moved to Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg, where he became head of quality assurance for the small and compact product lines. As of 2012, he held overall responsibility for the quality assurance of all of the vehicle-producing plants of the Volkswagen Cars brand.

On November 1, 2014, Albert Mayer returned to Ingolstadt, where he is now Head of Production and Plant Planning at AUDI AG. In this position, he is responsible for the production-related planning of all vehicle projects of the Audi brand as well as for the planning and implementation of the plant structures of all Audi sites worldwide.
